LG DR275 Recorder Questions & Answers
Lg dr275 does not recognize any disk
This has happened to me many times. After a player sits for a while, the lens that reads the discs can get a film/patina on it, especially if there has been cigarette smoke around it.
Try this:
Take a q-tip with rubbing alcohol on it (almost none, like dip it and squeeze most out with your fingers). Then, very GENTLY, with almost NO pressure, wipe the lens with a circular motion for a few seconds. Then, flip the q-tip over and dry the lens with a circular motion for a few seconds. Then, quickly blow on the lens to dry it and remove any remaining q-tip fibers/debris (don't spit, lol).
This has worked for me many times. If you can't access the lens from/through the disc door, you'll have to open the unit, in which case you could also blow out all of the dirt/dust with a spray can of air or small air compressor first.
Good luck.

Hello, I have an LG DR275 which plays all discs
According to the operation manual for this model, DL (dual-layer) discs are not mentioned, so your unit may not be able to record or play that type of disc.
~
Of course, if you are using BLANK dual layer discs which have not been recorded or formatted on any other device, and the LG isn't recognizing them, then the disc type is probably not compatible with your model. It's likely to be a design limitation specific to this model; not necessarily a fault.

I have problem with subtitles
First of all both of the files must be in a separate folder just for them or alone on the disk.
Then the name of the srt file must be EXACTLY the same as the one of the movie file.
Finally make sure that the disk has been properly burned with that subtitle file - if the file has been burned on a disk separately from the movie file it will not be detected.

I have an DR275 LG
The laser mechanism has a number of optical components, not just the lens. There also additional fixed lenses and mirrors inside the laser unit which are very difficult to access. If sufficient dirt builds up on these components then the dvd laser may not work properly. Unfortunately it is very difficult (or even impossible) to clean these parts.
Another possible fault is that the CD laser is usually separate to the DVD laser and the DVD laser is no longer working properly, while the CD laser is still OK. In this case, the unit is definately not repairable without replacing the whole laser unit (not a readily available item and not likely to be cheap).
If the unit is out of warranty, your cheapest option is to buy a new DVD recorder.

Hi can you please help
Hi,
Resolving this problem is not as easy as it seems. Cleaning the internal parts MIGHT help, in addition to that reseat the connectors ONE-BY-ONE. Unplug and replug them to their designated ports. Be very careful with the optical cable. It is the thin, film-like cable that connects the optical lens to the mainboard of the device.
Thank you for visiting FixYa! you can do it! Just be very careful though. Enjoy!

Only records for a few
Your problem seems to be the laser lens.
You can try to apply some grease to the laser guides first to make sure it's not a problem of the laser getting stuck along the guides.
If this doesn't solve the problem, you'll have to change the optical unit though i'm affraid this will be an expensive fix.

I have placed a high
Most DVD player Unknown Disk / No disk errors are the result of 1 of 3 things. As you obviously suspected, a dirty laser lens is one. The wrong kind of disk is another (DVDRW often is not recognized). And the other is a dead or dying drive motor. Very rarely can the motor be fixed because it is usually an integral part of a larger assembly and is difficult to access and nearly impossible to replace as a single discreet component. I'm afraid you are likely going to have to replace the unit as it is probably not economically feasible to repair it. Sorry about the bad news but it is a very common failure. I know this isn't very helpful so feel free to repost the question for another user, maybe someone else will have better news. Good luck. Joe.
