I am trying to change my NAT settings from strict to open so that I can play Xbox Live more efficiently, but I only want to change this on my xbox and not on my computer. Help?
I have this router and have just enabled the NAT settings from Strict to Open:-
1. Log into router's IP address (192.168.1.1) and enter password. Select "Advanced Setup".
2. Click on Advanced on left hand menu and select UPnP
3. Check all three boxes in window and click on Apply
4. Close router configuration window and run XBox test again. Worked for me!

Hi. i try to obtain the NAT 2 on my ps3 but its imposible for me.
I already open ports and enable UPNP opcion but it seems there is not enough. should i upgrade the firmaware. I looked into the zyxel web an the only firmware that they have i already have it.
YOUR HELP!
Yeah I had this problem but she's fixed. No need to upgrade the firmware me thinks.
1) Type in "192.168.1.1" into the address bar of your browser. The log in page for your browser appears.
2) Enter your password - by default this is "1234", but you might have changed it. If you have changed it before log in with that new one.
A page should load with a lots of boring information. On the left side there should be a panel of stuff, what you want is "advanced settings". If advanced settings IS there on the left go to step "a" below. If advanced settings (or in fact anything) IS NOT down the left proceed to step "b" below.
a) Happy days. All you have to do is click the "+" beside advanced settings to expand it, then select UPnP. Then just click ALL of the boxes (there's 3 of them I think). That's it.
b) You are logged into some sort of stupid mode where you can't change anything. All you can do is refresh the page or log out. This is probably because you entered "1234" as the password, but in fact this password has previously been changed by you or someone else. So go back to the log in screen (192.168.1.1 in the address bar) and put in the one you changed it to, if you can remember it. If you do remember it and log in successfully (successfully being that you can see "advanced settings" on the left), go back to step "a" above. If you still can't get to that page it means you don't know your password. So you're going to have to reset your router. Go to step "c".
c) Resetting your router. Turn the router off. Then hold the reset button for 30 seconds and power on the router at the same time. Now I think you'll have to set up your router again like when you got if first, to connect to the internet, so do it. Then log in to 192.168.1.1 again. This time the password "1234" should bring you to the proper screen with advanced settings. If it does go to step "a". If it doesn't go to step "d".
d) You'll have to default reset your router. Turn it off. Turn it on and hold reset for 15 seconds. Some light will flash. Release button and let it reboot. Now log in to 192.168.1.1 again. If it works and you can select "advanced settings" go to step"a". If you STILL can't see advanced settings you're at the end of the line and I don't know what to do. Contact your provider or something.
If you haven't done this already...on your ps3:
Open up network >> internet connection. Choose wireless/wired - whichever you want. Choose "Address settings" - "custom", "IP address" - choose manual.Enter these:
IP address - "192.168.1.50"
Subnet Mask - "255.255.255.0"
Default Router - "192.168.1.1"
Primary DNS and Secondary DNS same as default router.
Then enter than. Don't know what MTU is (it'll come up next). You're done.

i have forgotten my password for my zyxel router. Is there anyway i can find it out? If not can it be reset, if so how do i do it?
If you forgot the password of your router. If ever you already change it from default, resetting is the only way now I know. If default consult your manual.
There's always a reset pin on every router. Go to manufacturer's site and download the manual for your particular model. Scan thru pages and look for Resetting the router.

I just got a new laptop computer. When I tried the internet, it wouldn't work. When I pinged it, it was registering a 75% loss. So I swapped wireless modems. The WPA key was written on a label on the old modem (which I returned to the telephone company), and so now I have no clue what the WPA key is. I knew how to access the modem and change the settings on our old modem, but with this new ZyXEL modem, I can't seem to access it. Is there any way to access the settings and change the WPA?
Thanks---
To access Zyxel configuration/setup utility, launch a web browser (Internet Explorer, Opera, Firefox, or Netscape, etc.) on your computer, type in http://192.168.1.1 (default IP address for most Zyxel wireless devices) in your Internet browser's Location/Address bar, and then press Enter on your keyboard.
If presented with a user authentication (login) screen, try the following:
Default Username - Zyxel Wireless Router: N/A (none, leave blank)
Default Password - Zyxel Wireless Router : 1234
If you cannot login using the above, verify that (a) you are entering your password correctly, and that (b) your CAPSLOCK key is off. It could also be due to the firmware (a set of instructions stored on an EEPROM microchip) on your Zyxel product being corrupt. If so, you would need to reset your Zyxel WiFi router to its factory default settings.
IMPORTANT: Do not forget to promptly secure your Zyxel router (using a strong password, a non-obvious WEP Key, etc.) following a reset to factory default settings. Failing to do so may potentially expose your entire WLAN to scammers.
*Your vote is highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My own iPod Touch connects fine to the WiFi, but my husband got one today and I can't connect it, even tho I've done everything the same! When I go into the settings, if I let it automatically find the IP address and all the other settings, then the 'Router' box appears blank! It's as if the iPod can't find the router! If I enter the settings manually it just doesn't remember them and still doesn't connect!
Also, the iPod tells me that I'm connected (without the router info) and even gives me full bars, but when I try to do anything requiring internet access it just says loading but never does.
Please help this is driving me nuts!!!
MY only solution was reset my i-pod touch, and after reset it's working very well my Wi-Fi.
To reset your i-pod touch just go to settings
you will find reset button.
Alternately, check your router to see if it actually sees the i-pod.
Try re-synching your i-pod.
Also try resetting your router with the i-pod off then after router resets turn i-pod back on. Should find then..
Hope this helps.

i need to change my nat type from strict to open
This router does not have the typical "strict or open" NAT types. Looking at the manual, it looks like what you want is NAT enabled and SUA only enabled.

Page 133 has the details.
Log into router
go to the NAT tab
Enable NAT
Enable SUA only
Apply the change.

ok do this if it is already showing your router up on your portable device but it has that security lock and you are unable to join or need a password which u dont know lol go to that network and on the top push forget this network. than go back and click on for other location. than for the name put in your router name usually 5 characters long make sure u use capitalization cuz its case sensitive. than select what kind of key u have it should say right on the side of your wireless router. than type the key in usually a wep key and u should be set to join it if it doesnt auto matically do soo

I can't configure Zyxel P-660HW-D1. I tried 192.168.1.1 gateway and my own IP, but all the options are disabled, I can just see the status screen. I was never given any documentation with this router, so if anybody knows what's wrong I would be grateful for any help.
I answered this here:

I have forgotten my login password for my ZYXEL P-66OHW-T1 V3. Please help me out with this and how can i go ahead to hid my ip as well as reconfiguring my router?
Try the default: 1234
If that doesn't work, do a hard reset. http://www.zyxel.co.uk/web/support_faq_detail.php?faqID=17&pid=20060330164958
To perform a factory reset:
1) Power off the router,
2) Hold down the recessed reset button on the rear of the unit (keep it held down)
3) Power on the router with the reset button still pressed down.
4) You will notice all the LAN lights flash at the same time which will indicate that the router has reset - this takes up to 30 seconds.
5) When all the LAN lights do flash simultaneously you can let go of the reset button.
Your router is now reset. The default IP address is "192.168.1.1" and the default password is "1234".
