Frigidaire FRS23KF7AB Side by Side Refrigerator - Page 4 Questions & Answers
My side by side refridge
The water inlet valve on the back of the unit where the water supply comes in can have a slow leak and will cause ice to buildup and block the fill tube. Disconnect the ice maker line from the valve and watch to see if it has a slow drip. It doesn’t take much to eventually block the fill tube.
This drip can also drip into the ice bin.
Is the freezer cold enough? Should be close to 10 degrees.
The wire bail that goes up when the ice dumps also goes down and connects a switch which allows the ice maker to refill and start another cycle. If this switch isn't made it can slow down the production of ice. If this seems to be the problem you can inspect it by taking the plastic end cover off the ice maker and you may need to remove the ice maker to get to the switch to adjust it by slightly bending the metal piece which makes the switch.
The refiridgerator is freezing everything
It might actually be a bad thermostat, or a stuck damper. All the cold are is "produced" in the freezer section, and there are ducts with dampers that lead into the refrigerator section. If these dampers collect some ice on them it will cause them to stick in there current position. If this is the case, and the dampers are open, then it will always be to cold in the refrigerator. Hope this helps
I have a Frigidaire FRS26R4CB0,
It can be the defrost timer.it is located outside the cabinet on the base front.Click it twice and then try to turn on, or May be the compressor may not be running, dont worry just clean out that area and try again this will help to solve your problem.
Or you can do this : In back of the refrigerator is a removable panel behind which is the compressor. Listen for a hum and a click. If you hear those sounds the compressor may have failed. Behind that same panel is a condenser where heat is removed from the refrigerating system. Make sure it is clean and check that the fan operates when the compressor runs.
Temperature guage in refrigerator is
I realize that you're paying for an answer, however I'm a Phone Support Expert in a different field. This happened to me once and I found the entire problem was the ejector plate getting seized up. In doing so, the ice maker "heats" the ice before it's ejected into it's bin. Since this sounds as though it's an emergency, unplug the ice maker from the side of your freezer and wait about forty-five minutes to an hour and check to see as to whether the temperature is going back to normal.
Should this be the case, then it would be much simpler to remove your ice maker and take it to a local repair shop (instead of getting charged for a house call), and have them replace the ejector plate of your ice maker. For the time being, Unplug it from the inside of the freezer.
Best of Luck,

Water is leaking inside the freezer at the bottom.
Clean the drain pan and drain line in the back of the freezer
section
underneath the evaporator coil. (hint: use turkey baster with hot water) Make sure water drains when you
pour it in. If it doesn't - also clean drain tube on the back of the
unit behind the cover. When done - put the tube exactly where it was.
Good luck! :)

Frigidaire JSI-26 does not keep cold
It could be the thermostat, if its a mechanical one its easy to replace but if its electronic then its a cicuit board repair, theres two transistors which control the switching on and off when the censor triggers them. It could also be the compression system. There is a recharge kit which puts a special fluid into the system which regenerates it.
I have a Frigidaire model FRT21LRG
CHECK TO SEE IF THE CONDENSOR FAN IS WORKING IT COOLS THE COMPRESSOR IF IT IS THEN UNPLUG IT AND LAT COOL DOWN FOR A DAY THEN TRY TO SEE IF IT WORKS BETTER IT MAY NEED A RELAY OVERLOAD TOO BUY A 3 N 1 START KIT IT TELLS YOU HOW TO WIRE IT ON THE PACKAGE
Both Freezer in my shed packed up at the same time
Good day,
Any temperature below 55 degrees will cause the machine to go
out of balance. If far enough below 55 degrees the machine will reach a point where it rarely if ever runs. Thus your problem.
Frigidaire's owner manual will verify this.
Domestic refrigerators/freezers are designed to work properly at temperatures comfortable to people.
Usually 70 to 95 degrees.
Sorry I can't give you a solution better than this but it is a common complaint here in cold weather. This problem applies to all brands and models of refrigerators - freezers.
Thank you for using FixYa
Power on but not cooling
mostly either compressor or relay is bad. replace relay and see if it works, since that is cheaper part..

The evaporator coil behind the cover on the back
wall inside the freezer will ice up under normal conditions. Every 8 to 10
hours for around 20 minutes the defrost timer (or in most newer models the electronic
adaptive defrost control) will turn the defrost heater on to
melt the built up ice. There is a defrost thermostat which prevents the heater from
overheating the freezer by breaking the heater circuit when the temp reaches
close to 32 degrees F. The entire cooling system shuts off during the defrost
cycle and starts back when the timer advances through the cycle.
If this ice is not melted it will continue to
build up until the air can’t flow over the coil to circulate the cold air
through the freezer and into the fridge. The temperature change in the fridge
is usually noticed first followed by the freezer.
If the defrost thermostat is bad it can prevent the heater from
coming on OR it won’t turn the heater off when it gets too warm. It is clamped
to the evaporator coil at the top to sense the temp. If it appears to be
misshapen it is bad.
With an ohm meter it should show continuity when
cold and none when warm.
You can also bypass the thermostat to see if the
heater comes on then. If it does then you know the thermostat is bad and needs
replaced.
The defrost heater is
located on the evaporator. It is in a tube which is at the bottom and can also
go up the sides of the evaporator. On some types you can see a burnt spot if
it’s bad. With an ohm meter it should show continuity from end to end when
disconnected from the wiring in the freezer. You can also test the wiring for
voltage when it’s in the defrost mode.
If
you have a defrost
timer you
can test it. It can be located under the fridge behind the kick panel on the
front. Some are in the fridge with the controls at the top. You can turn the defrost timer till it clicks and everything shuts
down. The heater should now come on. If it does, replace the timer because that
means the timer is not running. If it
doesn't, check the heater and defrost thermostat. Turn the timer again till
everything starts back up to end the defrost cycle.
If you have an adaptive defrost control instead of a timer,
replace it if the heater and thermostat test good. It is located in the fridge
with the controls in some models and on the back in others.
Red element in freezer making noise
Most times that is normal when defrost takes place. The sound of frozen surfaces changing temperature quickly and you may also hear the sound of water sizzling when the moisture drops on the element. The only thing that would concern me is if the defrost remained on too long and to the point of causing a burned plastic smell. Is the refrigerator new to you or the sounds just suddenly change? There have been cases where the defrost remained on too long when the defrost thermostat becomes defective. Let me know if you have something more sever than that. Thanks, Sea Breeze
