after emailing canon support, the answer is this: 1) the fax paper size must be "letter" - 8.5-11". 2) reset all settings through settings menu. the fax will then print reports (and also every report that was not printed before).

Try turning the feature off from the settings and see if that helps.

Try a different cord and outlet. If still nothing you have a bad head or logic board.

Ok, the you likely have a problem with the printer settings inside the word program.

Try instead of using the print button in word, using the file menu then selecting the pirint option. Make sure when the window comes up you have the right printer setup in the drop down box.

All it takes is trying to print once when that printer is off and word can set itself to a different printer.

We shall try a reset to see if the fault clears. So remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.

This seems to be fault in the transport of the paper in the rollers. So if you have used any adhesive sticker printing, it is possible that some glue has got clogged into the rollers. If not there can be some jammed paper in the rollers or the mechanism.

Remove the covers to get access to the mechanism . Remove the motor drive assembly , the fitting of the motor to the mechanism. Once this is removed the rollers can be turned manually so that you will be able to feed a paper to see the progress of the movement while studying if there is any obstruction or damage to the paper.
There is a in-detect sensor, usually an opto-coupler , make sure this is not clogged or dirty as this IR detection feeds the signal to the processor for starting the motor drive feed.
Reassemble but make sure the rollers are aligned to be in equal gap to feed the paper without a side pull. Now you must print and see if the fault has changed. If not repeat the above work to confirm the area of obstruction

take out the colors and see if the black prints. if not you could need a new one.

I've been having this same problem for months now and have been unable to find a solution. At some point in the past it failed to print a fax transmission report, and now it keeps insisting periodically for me to load paper so it can print. However, paper is loaded but the fax mode seems unable to feed it. I've unplugged the printer for a week and then reconnected it, but the error reappears periodically.
