Westinghouse L1975NW Monitor - Answered Questions & Fixed issues

Without doing a physical test of the system, it is like shooting in the dark. Timing out may relate to capacitance. If a failing capacitor on the circuit board is intermittent, it starts to build up a charge and then quickly discharges. Again, proper test equipment is required to trace the circuit and find the problem.

"no input" means that there is no signal from computer or the monitor cable is unplugged. When you first turn on monitor it usually does a self test and then looks for signal. Not connected to PC will give a no signal. If it is connected but PC is off (not unplugged) then it should go into standby as you vid card will be sending a standby signal to any monitor connected. Sometimes the Plug and Play monitors need to register before it will recognize a standby signal from PC, so plug it up and boot up PC. Then shutdown normally, your monitor should go into standby when the PC shuts down.

Click on the apple icon in the upper left corner and select "System Preferences" from the menu to open the preference panel. Then click "displays" on the panel (it should be listed under hardware and will have a monitor icon). There you can see all of the resolution options.

Problem might be with your graphics drivers
Confirm by following process
Right click on my computer and then click on Manage.
then Choose device manager from left panel of the window
then list of hardware will appear.
if there is exclamatory mark over your graphics drivers then right click on it and then click on update device software
if it doesn't work then install it from your drivers disk, you got it with your motherboard.

Kathy...have you tried connecting another monitor to the same video card and computer? It could be...

1. Video card defective
2. VGA cable from computer to monitor defective...look for bent pins in plug.

The VGA cable from the computer video output carries three distinct colors...red, green and blue. Likewise one of these colors may not arrive at the monitor correctly or at all. The results being that all colors are incorrect.

Did you recheck the MOSFETs? You will need a set of test lamps to test the inverter to see if it is the inverter or the lamp assemblies. I am surprised that the kit only contains 2 caps, it should have at least 4 caps, 2 each for the 5v and the 18vdc power supply section. Take the DC reading on the caps to see what you have, take the reading WITHOUT turn on the monitor (the power supply is running al the time), then turn on the montior to see if it maintains the output voltages.

Your monitor cable may be bad. This happens. Try a different cable.

If not, try a different monitor to ensure the computer is displaying. Also make sure everything is plugged in firmly (not HARSHly, just tight).

Also, try testing the monitor with a laptop. This will eliminate whether the monitor is shot.

It means that your display card settings are too high for your monitor. Boot your system into safe mode (press F9 as it boots up) and set the display settings lower. Right mouse button click on an empty space on your desktop and go to properties. Then settings->advanced->Monitor and you should be able to adjust the vertical frequency down to 60hz or 72hz. If you get the out of range message on boot up then you will need to try out a different screen on your system, boot into Windows, change the settings and then plug in your original monitor.

Hi,
Please reduce display resolution of computer/ laptop to solve "out of range" error because laptop is producing high resolution video signal and monitor hardware is unable to show that much higher display resolution so causing that error message.
Let me know what Windows version (XP, Vista, 7) is running in laptop to provide you more info or check Display Properties in control panel and change it to lower resolution to get picture in monitor.

Your PC video resolution is too high for the monitor to display, you need to set it to the native resolution of the monitor.

try replacing the vga cable but first check for bent pins .if there grounding out on each other it will cause it to shut down good luck

If it is only 1 month old, you should get it replaced or fixed under warranty. You should try the monitor with another PC first to make sure it is not PC problem. Do not taking it apart, it will void the warranty.

When you power up the computer press F8 key 5 to 6 times so you can see safe mode and other menu then enter in "enable vga mode" then go to display property in control panel.Then change screen resolution to 1024*768 then apply you can also change the display from there. You can change desktop background and other display settings from start menu->control panel->display.. Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

More likely the backlight is not on, check the caps (leaking/bulging tops) in the power supply first, then check the fuse in the inverter circuits, when the caps went out it may have taken out the MOSFET for the inverter transformer with it. See failed WESTINGHOUSE and other monitors due to bad caps.
