If you have text information/data coming up on the screen before it shuts down, you most likely have a capacitor problem either in the Main Power Supply or an Auxilliary panel. You need to be prepared for a serious dismantling and troubleshooting project OR take it to a place that has such diagnostic equipment to repair such a problem. Doesn't sound like a software issue at all. Hope this helps at least some. . . .

You may want to get the capacitor kit, but you need to get the board number used in your monitor version.

I will not use RadioShack caps, since they are not low ESR type which is required for switching power supply, they will not last if you use generic electrolytic caps.

You should remove one cap at a time so you can see what the value is for each cap.

The VGA inputs on these things can be a bit flaky. The DVI inputs work pretty well. I'm going to guess you're using the VGA input, given the problems you're having. There really isn't a fix, as far as I've been able to find.

You need to inpsect the power supply/inverter board for bad caps with domed tops first.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on: Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). sounds like your power board is going bad. you will probably need to replace it. also try unplugging it for about 20 minutes see if it turns on for longer if it doesnt then it is your power board. sorry for the bad news how that wont affect my rating

Hello,

The L2046NV has a known issue with the power supply board going out and doing just what you have there. Parts called capacitor start to fail on the power board and it is now able to filter the voltages correctly so the unit does not start. When you press the power button over and over it will finally stabilize and turn on. There are 2 different models of power supply for the L2046 and both have the same issue but the parts to repair them are different. If you can solder then you should be able to do the repair yourself. If you can open the back of the unit and get email us the model number of the power supply board we will be glad to get you a list of the parts you need to replace to get back going again. Check the graphics card is working by changing the monitor and testing the output on the screen. If this works ok, the issue is with the monitor. Again, i am assuming you have made sure the VGA cable is tight on both ends from the monitor and the computer?

You can try pressing the "degauss" function on the monitor in the menu, which MIGHT clear it
Or checking that the monitor is not near any strong magnetic fields

After that, the issue may be a "dry joint" on the circuit board, or possibly a failure of the colour controlling circuits in the monitor itself. either way, this required a TV technician to resolve

It may have failed power supply for the backlights circuits due to bad caps, failed circuits in the backlights, worst case will be failed lamp assemblies.

Bad news, when the DC filter caps went out it could damage a lot of components (fuse, MOSFET's, resistors) in the inverter circuits.

Your power supply board is dead, you know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors.These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable,and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
