I get no data file error when i try to play the song in my NW-E003 SONY MP3 WALKMAN player

I hade just that prob. "format error" used to display. I did this:
1. dwl sonicStage (free)
2.- in the walkman went to menu/initialize/format
then displayed a confirmation screen, I confirmed
it displayed "formating...... COMPLETE"
3.- THEN plugged into the PC and transfered songs with Sonic
and it worked!

You probably need to sync your mp3 player rather than copying and pasting songs into it as if it were a hard drive. Use a media program to do this; the chances are one of these was bundled with your computer operating system.
Plug in your mp3 player. Remove the files you put on it. Open the media program and make sure it has all your songs and albums on it. Sometimes you have to open extra files within the media program to get all of your music. In the "Sync" feature of the media program, place all the files you want to have on your mp3 player. You can connect the player to a PC as it will be detected and the files required can be loaded to the player. make sure that all the files are scanned for any virus before you load them.

(assuming your PC is Windows) connect it to your PC . open 'My Computer'. when the new icon showing the mp3 player appears, right click on it and go to 'Properties'. Then switch to the 'Tools' tab on the top of the dialogue box that appears. Then use the 'Check Now' option. it will scan and fix any errors. hope it helped
