Just check if all the contacts on the memory card are clean and shiny. And the should not have any bent or dent. You could clean the contacts with a dry cloth or a cotton swap. If you have a external memory card reader, you could try to read and writhe the card using a computer. If you have all the pictures from the card, save on another media you could try to format the card on a computer (FAT or FAT32) and then again do a format in the camera. See if the filesystem is more reliable then.

I have the same problem with mine!! Had it about 14 months now too!! Glad I'm not the only one... I don't know what to do! I have gotten brand new rechargeable batteries and instead of getting 250 shots, I only get like 20!

Since you have already tried the basic steps just try to apply some pressure and check. If the lens still do not open up you need to get it repaired from a tech shop.

There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". The most common cause is having the tiny slide switch on the side of the card in the wrong position. The second most common is trying to use a 4GB or higher SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. There is a tiny switch on the memory card that is used to lock to prevent accidental erasure. Make sure that this small lever on the side of the SD card is pushed to unlock.

The A650 only adds a date stamp in postcard mode.

Buy a used camera (sold for parts, with good LCD) through ebay.com. If you try to buy the LCD by itself, usually it is expensive. A camera can be bought for under $15. Buy a jewellers screwdriver set for $1 from Dollar store.

Press the FUNC/SET button. Use up/down to select Drive Mode (the rectangle, third item from the top). Use left/right to select the desired delay and press FUNC/SET.

That's probably what the error is. My Ixus says "No memory card!" if I turn it on without a card in it, then "Can't Record!" if I try to take a picture. Some cameras have built in memory for pictures and some don't.

From now on, use a card reader for downloading your pics. After downloading, format the card in the camera.

Once you format the card, the pics are gone forever.
