my first guess WB setting

pls change the White Balance setting to normal and check if you have the problem rectified

Partially black screen,

dropped or banged it and broke the LCD and speaker by the description of the fault.

Why doesn't my Z1285 12 mp camera batteries last. Even new are good for no more than 10-15 shots.

I do not know how to use the internal memory. How do you turn off the internal memory? yes there is a memory card in the easy share C310.

If your camera is not dead, It is surely dying. Perhaps just a flat cable lost connection inside your camera, But more likely the electronics is on the end of life. My DX7590, started to act strange a few year ago, but I managed to shoot pictures still. I could not look back what I had shot, but I still made lots of pictures, till also shooting was impossible. (I could get the pictures from the memory card with an external card reader on my computer. My next step was again (a better) compact, but since over 2 years now I'm using a DSLR. I have learned a lot about digital photography with my Kanon camera's.

When I turn the camera on, immediately it goes off. The lens is all the way out and won't retract. I have held the 'on' button down, but that doesn't help. It will not turn on. I have fresh batteries.

push on the front of the lens when you turn it on. The lens extended to far and doesn't have enough power to close it back.

camera drive motor assembly going bad, very common for these model Kodak cameras, Buyer Beware, Made in China, Very low quality and not dependable !!

Screen has static lines

Hi there:
Some symptoms of a defective CCD include distorted images or abnormal colors, scratchy purple lines, blank or black pictures, and/or black videos with good sound being recorded on the camera's flash card.

A CCD problem would explain the lines on your pictures and the lines on the LCD (since the CCD is used to feed the live image). CCD (Charge Coupled Device) is one of the two main types of image sensors used in digital cameras.

When a picture is taken, the CCD is struck by light coming through the camera's lens. Each of the thousands or millions of tiny pixels that make up the CCD convert this light into electrons. The number of electrons, usually described as the pixel's accumulated charge, is measured, then converted to a digital value. This last step occurs outside the CCD, in a camera component called an analog-to-digital converter.

In order to correct this issue, the repair facility needs to replace the CCD. This is not something you may do on your own; check this article for additional details:Bad CCDs. This, isn't a good new, but hope helps to solve it.
