Tomtom GO 920 GPS Receiver - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Tomtom go 920 non viene
"Questo

Il
TomTom tenta di connettersi a un'unità specifica che possono essere adottate da
un altro app (cioè DVDFab Virtual Drive, o altre unità virtualisers, o forse
l'unità si associa a qualcosa d'altro), con questo in mente, ecco la
soluzione:
1)
Collegare il TomTom e attendere che si connette al PC;
2) In Windows andare su
'Start';
3) Diritto-clic su
'computer';
4)
Selezionare 'Gestisci', per aprire la 'Gestione computer';
5) Expand 'Gestione
periferiche';
6)
all'interno;
7) Prendere nota della
lettera di unità;
8) Sul lato sinistro,
espandere 'storage';
9) Fare clic su 'Gestione
disco';
10)
Disco 2, e così via;
11)
percorso ...';
12)
'Rimuovi';
13) Premere 'OK' per
chiudere la finestra;
14)
Scollegare il dispositivo TomTom e ricollegarlo .........
Windows
dovrebbe ora riconoscere il tuo dispositivo.

TomTom 920 GPS Activation code
Unless your TomTom device comes with a "life-time" map, you need (to pay for a map update and) get an activation code everytime to wish to install a new/revised map on your device. You can subscribe to a year of update (i.e. 4 maps updates for the year) and you should be able to update the maps (4 times) after you enter the activation code (once you've paid for the map subscription).

the battery is probably to low. very common problem with these and many other models...hook it up to your computer via the usb cable for a few hours to get a good charge on it. then press and hold the power button for up to ten seconds.
if that fails, let me know and we can try something else, but this usually works 99% of the time

Why does my tom tom
First, check
and make sure your battery is fully charged. Then try to do a "Reset"
.... by pressing and holding down the ON/OFF button for 5 seconds (or a
lot more) until the device powers on again. Yes, at times, it may take a
minute or more ! of holding that button down.
Message on my TomTom GO 920 screen, you can not use this map on this device
It appears that the map (validation/activation) has been lost / corrupted (damaged)... or the map hasn't been activated, or is not compatible with the navigation software installed on that GPS.If the map file/data simply was corrupted, consider using your PC's Disk Utilities (or CheckDisk) to restore/fix the disk (or SD card). If you have a back-up copy of it, consider restoring it from backup. If your TomTom GPS is new / still under warranty, contact TomTom support to have them activate it for you.
Factory reset
There is a "Reset Factory Setting" menu button in your Change Preferences menu that you can select to restore your GPS to factory setting.If you can't seem to find it, make sure you have all your menu options shown ... by selecting "Show All Menu Option" button first.
Very short battery life
Often this is the result of keeping the device plugged into a power source all (or most) of the time, even when it is not in use. The battery literally looses it capability to hold a good (long) charge. So, you'll need to keep the device plugged in (to a power source) every time you need to use it ... to continue using it. Or, you may wish to replace the battery. And if / when you do, just remember to charge it fully, then unplug it and use the device (to run only on the battery) until the battery is depleted before plugging it in to charge it (to full) again. This way, the battery will last longer.
All of a sudden, my Go 920 screen calibration is
Well, I can say this from a guy that has had several gps, in most cases Tom Tom is considered the low budget of the gps devices out there. If your lucky when you buy them and they work, feel lucky. They are considered disposable gps systems. I went through a few myself, until I ended up getting a megellian and works perfect, mor goodies, and never a problem in the last 4 years I h?ve had it. My advice, don't bother trying to fix it, because in a few months will happen again. Thanks Mike ( x truck driver)
Device not recognized by computer
Lots of folks having this problem with many different TomTom Models, mine was with a GO630.
Do a "reset" on the unit, use a paperclip or somesuch and hold the reset button on your TomTom in for about 5 seconds, and the unit will rrset and will be recognized by your computer.

hello pc. if this unit is still under warranty return it, other wise check the sales and replace it. You will find that the functions on the new ones are a real improvement over the older models. Joe
