Washer makes humming noise but the drum dont turn

you mean will not wash agitate? No agitation? first use a meter and check ur water pressure switch? that is what sends the machine the message to start wash cycle? You can test it with a meter and with a manual test? ( first locate it in the panel, it has a plastic clear tube hose going into it, remove that tube from its connection, now put another small tube or hose into the slot where it was and have the machine set to wash cycle with water in it. Blow into the other end of the tube. If the machine starts to wash. the pressure switch is more than likely good ( No wash- then THE DIAPHRAM IS BAD AND SWITCH HAS TO BE REPLACED) another test u can do is Remove the hose and submerge in water. Seal one end and blow air into the other end and look for bubbles. Check for an obstruction in the hose as well. Or take the original hose tube and plug one end and blow into it AT the other end, it should be hard and have pressure, if it is easy to blow and u dont feel any pressure and it feels like the air is going out ? Sometimes they get busted open or a pin hole and release air causing the water switch diaphragm to not open. Another test u can make with a multi meter is by testing the prongs individually. # 15, 16,17 (don't worry to much bout the numbers) place ur meter prongs on both out side prongs or connectors of the switch. ( where the wire plugs into) take note of weather it shows OHMS or infinity? Now place the meter on the left outside and the middle prong, take note agin what it shows. Now place meter prong on the right outside and the middle prong. Agin take note what reading u get. ( you should actually get a reading of infinity in 1 and a reading of continuity or ohms in the other 2? Now the tricky part. Agin place a small tube or hose into the switch and blow into it, do the same test agin on all prongs. Now keep the pressure on switch when u blow into it, in other words use ur tongue on end of tube to not allow air to escape. When u test it agin now one of the prongs that once read infinity should now show continuity or ohms, and 1 of the other prongs that read ohms should now read infinity or open. . If both check ok then next CHECK the motor coupler (a bad couplercan be checked by looking under the machine and taking note if there is a black residue on floor, look at coupler located between the motor and tranny, and see if it is broken up or missing any parts? Try to turn shaft by hand and notice if it does not engage tub? ) or belt if belt driven. Check for loose, broken or worn belt . Then check the door switch with a multi meter for continuity OHMS when door closed and infinity when door is opened , and if there is a little movement on wash cycle in 1 direction only then check the cam dogs in agitator.

Model gltf2940fs clothes still wet only after the perma press cycle

Good Afternoon Friend, I understand that your clothes are still wet in your Frigidaire washer, model# GLTF2940FS, but only after the perma press cycle. I suggest resetting your appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. Sometimes there can be a miscommunication between the different boards inside your appliance. Restore power and try the perma press cycle. I ask that you please follow up with a comment on the post, at your convenience, to advise if further troubleshooting is needed or if your appliances status has changed successfully. Hope this is helpful. -Best Regards- WP

Frigidaire front loading washer has loud spin cycle, Why?

That's a great question, Roth!

Based off the information you have provided your Frigidaire washer is making a loud noise during the spin cycle. This could be an issue with your bel, motor, or tub. In order to find the cause of your noise you may need to disassemble your washer. This is not a simple DIY job and I would recommend contacting a technician to come out. This will help prevent any future issues or personal injuries. -Matt

Washer makes a humming sopund on the spin cycle is

I am not a repair professional. I am a 78 year old man who has been making his own repairs for about 50 years. So the machine ID doesn't mean much to me. I came to fixya looking for a schematic for an really old AM/FM radio and just happened to see that more than 4,700 people were asking for help with a washer repair. I recently had a washer repair of my own and at that time I found an excellent video on youtube which showed me how to take my machine apart. This video (direct drive washer repair) made it possible for me to do my own repair. You probably don't have any idea of the wonderful help you can get from youtube videos. Your first stop should be at youtube. Just search for the help you need. You could search for "clothes dryer repair" or "clothes washer repair" or "dishwasher repair". If you are not able to view and/or download the videos, or after you've seen all you want to see, I suggest you go directly to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good step by step trouble shooting and repair information on washers, dryers. and dishwashers as well as other appliances. Another excellent site is www.acmehowto.com If you have a direct drive top load washer and need help taking it apart these youtube videos are wonderful help. I was so impressed with them that when I saw all these people needing help, I wanted to tell them about the videos. If you look at the back of your top load washer and the panel is solid (no small inspection plate to remove, which would indicate you have a v-belt drive) chances are you have a direct drive and this video (direct drive washer repair) is just what you need. After you've seen all the appropiate videos, or if you have a belt drive washer, you will probably still need help in determining what the trouble is and how to fix it. I suggest you go to www.applianceaid.com where they have very good trouble shooting and repair nformation on most washers and dryers, dishwashers and many other household appliances. I think you'll find what you need there. Another excellent site for DIY help is www.acmehowto.com Don't worry about the timer on a washer, they hardly ever go bad. I realize I haven't solved your problem for you, but I hope I have sent you where you can get help to solve the problem. Good luck with it.

M frigidaire washer model gltf2940fs1 shows me a e11 code

Thanks for your post, friend!

From my understanding your Frigidaire frontload washer, GLTF2940FS1, is displaying an "E11" error code. Typically, "E11" stands for fill time too long which means you could have an issue within your pressure sensor or control board. I would recommend a reset on your washer and that can be done by flipping the household circuit breaker off for ten minutes. If that does not help correct the issue you may want to consult with a technician for proper diagnosis. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

Frigidaire Class Action

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN WHEN YOU DONT USE IT. The washer door forms a tight seal so water doesn't leak all over the floor. If you leave the door open a crack when you aren't using it then the water has a chance to evaporate and will generally not cause mold to build up. ALSO, check to make sure you are using HE detergent and also that you are not using too much of it. You should be using around 1-2 tablespoons at the most.

Ddo error code

ok, I got mine to work. Push the button down on the back side of the soap dispenser that says push down or push here (to take the tray out). When you have it out you will want to turn it over and there are 3 or 4 white tabs. You will want to pop the front part of the drawer off and then on the bottom about an inch in/down there is a small slot to put it into. It is the same size as the magnet and the magnet goes with the squares on the top and bottom. You cannot actually see the magnet when the drawer is put back together. When I talked to the service man he said they did away with the magnet on the new model. How stupid to put it there to begin with!! Hope that helps and if it doesn't ask again.

Hi friend, thank you for your inquiry!

I understand that water will not come into your Frigidaire washer, GLTF2940ES, and you have recently changed your door lock. Since it could be any one of these underlying issues I would recommend having a professional come out to properly diagnose and repair the appliance to avoid any unnecessary part purchases. Frigidaire front loading washer will not start will not stat, I get a PAU or ERR message, tried resetting by unplugging for an hour, removed and cleaned soap dispenser, and checked door for proper clo

Thank you for your question, Friend. If you are still receiving an error code PAU after resetting your washer, then the door of your washer is probably not securely latched or the cycle has been interrupted. Try pressing "PAUSE/CANCEL" or "START/PAUSE" once to resume cycle. If the issue persists, then your washer could possibly have a faulty door latch, door strike or experiencing a communication error with the control board. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose your washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts. Best - Z
