Machine keeps filling up

Hello dwl770 - If your washer won't stop filling up with water and overflows the tub, check for one of these problems:

1) Turn off the electricity to the washer. If the water *stopped* filling when power was disconnected, the problem would usually be in the control system of the machine. If the water still continues, then the plunger in the water valve is either stuck open or slow to close. Try turning the water faucets off an on a few times. This small joltmight unstick the water valve. If not, it will need replacing.

2) There could be a problem with the water level switch. Call in a professional.

3) There is a pressure switch hose that is attached to an air dome. This switch tells the washer that there is water in the tub and allows the agitator to start.

- Remove the control panel and you will notice a small hose. See if it popped off of the air dome. If it did, secure it with a zip tie.

If water flow continues, but drains out immediately, then raise the drain hose above the highest water level line of the tub. Do not seal the drain hose to the discharge pipe. This could cause a siphoning action.

Washer won't spin after rinse cycle

Hello Dorothy - Does the drain pump make a humming noise? If so, there may be a restriction in the drain line or siphoning. Otherwise since it is such a complex unit I would recommend contacting a professional to have either the pump or timer diagnose.

Dryer timing button off

Hi - Are you referring to the dryer timer button (located on the far left side on most laundry centers) is broken? If so, you might need to replace the entire button. You can contact the manufacturer directly to get part or go through a part distributor but part numbers can be different.

Knob, dryer timer, white-part number: 131873304/MSRP: $24.20

Dryer tumbler does not seem to be on properly. The belt looks to be in good shape and in place. Dryer does not tumble at all. How does the tumbler attach to front of dryer?

Hi Jon - I understand you want to verify how the tumbler is attached to the front of the dryer; however I would never personally recommend replacing crucial parts without touching base with a certified professional due to liability and safety reasons. Let me ask you this, do you hear a grinding noise? If you do not chances are the motor does not operate. This would also cause the fan to not circulate and motor would need to be replaced. From what you have described and if the belt seems to be in place, there is possibly a communication failure between the control and the motor. Which in this case, I would suggest contacting a certified technician to assist in the full diagnosis and repair of your dryer.

My washer wont drain even if the pupm is running is it cloged

See if anything is blocking the drain lines and pump.

1. Unplug the washer

2. Pull the washer out to tilt it back so you can reach the screws below the front panel and remove it. (You will need something to catch the water once the hose is removed from the bottom of washer)

3. Loosen the bolt with the sliver clamp on the bottom of the washer. The water will begin to come out while your loosening the clamp. (Do not remove any GREEN clamps)

4. Once the water is out, you can stick your hand inside the hose to clean it out.

Washer spins but will not agitate

1) Verify a circuit breaker isn't tripped

2) Advance the timer control dial slowly 360 degrees-

If the washer starts spinning, then we know the motor and drive belt are fine but that there is something wrong with either the timer control dial or the agitator solenoid. Call in a professional for this.

If the washer doesn't budge, then verify that the drive belt(s) is attached and not broken by removing the back panel. If the belt is broken, replace it. If it is loose, then tighten it by loosening up the bolt holding the motor and moving it on its swingarm (much like a car alternator) until there is a 1/2 to 3/4 inch deflection in the belt. Some washers use reversing motors. It's possible the motor works on the spin cycle but not on the wash cycle. If so, call a pro.

3) Visually inspect the lid safety switch- Is it loose or cracked? If so, the washer might work intermittently, stopping at different cycles.

4) Check motor and drive belt- Remove the main access panel (usually in the back). Is the motor spinning, but the drive belt isn't? If so, then you have a drive belt problem.
