Where is the LCD cutoff switch located ?

Both the D620 and the D630 use the same keyboard. The picture below shows the keyboard. Hold down the blue Fn key at lower left, and then press F8 while holding down Fn. Press F8 multiple times until the screen returns. If that fails, the ribbon cable connected at the main board from the screen may be loose and removing it, then reconnecting it, is the most likely solution. 24445325-mwitmiqfvnaaevveqhjy40wy-4-0.jpg ixquick proxy com

How do I see if Video card is not working on a Latitude D630 lab top

Just because you plugged in an external monitor and didn't see anything doesn't really mean anything. Sometimes you won't see anything even if that laptop is working. Some have to be set in windows some you may have to use the one key on the keyboard. I know you said you replaced the ram but if there's 2 slots take 1 out and try it like that. If that don't work put the ram in the other slot and try it. Also use a flash light and point it at the LCD and different angles to see of you see any display. Laptops don't have video cards but the do have onboard graphics chips.

Hello
You will need to reinstall the drivers from your cd or dvd that came with the notebook.

If you no longer have the cd or dvd you can get and download drivers from Dells website.

Dell d630 blank screen 2 beeps

Tom - I thought the video adapter was part of the motherboard on a D630. How are you fixing a bad video adapter and 'often without parts'? I only asking because I have a D630 that I believe has a bad video adapter and would like to resurrect this PC. It is in otherwise great shape. Thanks in advance. - John

My DELL D630 beeps 6 times at startup and proceeds

Grab a USB keyboard and plug it up to the laptop to see if it works. If it does type in windows then its hardware problem if not its a software problem. How I check to see if this is hardware problem: Those Beeps are a series or sequence of beep codes called Bios beep codes they usually point to Memory sticks or Keyboard. Here is a website that I use to help determine what the beeps mean. http://www.bioscentral.com/postcodes/dellbios.htm Remove battery and unplug power adaptor! Try this! Page 22 is the first memory stick ftp://ftp.dell.com/Manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_latitude_laptop/latitude-d630_service%20manual_en-us.pdf easy to get to. Take the memory out . power up the laptop listen for beeps. It should say the system memory has been changed f1 to continue. Let it load up and test your if keyboard has issue. power down the laptop and power it back up listen for beep again. If the same thing power laptop down. Place back the memory that you took out and go to page 19 to remove keyboard. The Second piece of memory is underneath the keyboard. Remove that then power down the laptop and restart it again. Listen to beep again for change for it will get the same message that the system memory has been change let it load up and power it down and restart it again. If the keyboard doesnt work then you know its the keyboard now. ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dell-Latitude-D820-D620-D630-D830-US-Laptop-Keyboard-UC172-DR160-/371053367169?pt=PCA_Mice_Trackballs&hash=item5664810f81 cheap fix!
