Washer has squealing sound and burning rubber odor

Yes, its basically in need of a overhaul, which the parts involved, basket drive/clutch and gearcase are all wearing out, I've seen this happen many times and cause the squeal/spin cycle and then in time to slow then stop spinning altogether. From the parts diagram it said this model was made in 1998. The only time I have changed these parts on a model this old is when the customer purchased a service contract when it was new and kept paying on the contact year after year, thus the repair was free to them, but most of the time its NOT practical to keep paying on a service contact for up to 10 years unless you have heavy/extreme, daily/many times of day use of the washer, usually for large families living in the same household. Here's the list of parts I always change for this issue, now some members and techs. could possibly change just the basket drive/clutch assembly or just the clutch alone and it may work for another 6 months or year and a half, but I found when I used to change the parts separately I had to go back to change the other parts within 6-18 months.

Washer stops mid cycle

Hi there if the washer is doing this it may be detecting it is unbalanced or has too much in it and it will stop it from spinning as if it doesnt it will fly apart when spinning, try halving the load you put in it and if that doesnt help it may be the actual balancers and you may have to get an expert to rebalance it

Water leaking from underneath washer

This happened to us on an AEG auto washer, first check rubber seal for splits or perished rubber, if that is ok it could be either a blocked filter or, as in our case the pump was split. As our washer was 18 years old we binned it and bought a new one.

Top load washer - won't spin - how so i get

If this is a frigidaire.there are two clips about one inch in from either side of the machine in the front that you need to push in with a flat tip screw driver to loosen the lid.then there are two screws down on the bottom front that need to come off, then the front panel will come off to access the belt

My Frigidaire GLWS1339CS1 fills but stops about 2

The washer will not fill all the wayto the top.yourmachine is functioning properly.when you have an empty tub and put it on super load and fill it up there should be 12 to 14 inches of water in the tub. that is the normal operating settings for your washer.

Will go through was cycle but will not go into

If the unit drains properly then you will need to either replace the lid switch,or the timer itself.I would change out the lid switch first.

DRAIN PUMP DOESN'T COME ON.

Hi.

The drain pump does not fail very often. If you are sure that the pump does not start check first the pressure switch and the lid switch. The pressure switch is the sensor that determines when to start stop the drain pump. The switch is difficult to test. Try first cleaning the pressure hose connected to the switch. The lid switch is checked before entering in the last part of the cycle. Lid switch can be tested reading impedance at its contacts or jumping it. Check it just in case. If all that is OK check pump motor and control unit.
If you are not sure if pump is starting or not check for drain blockage at pump and at drain nose. Blockage is the most common cause for drain problems.

Regards.

Water will not stop filling

Your fill switch is bad and needs to be replaced. To test, set the water level to it's lowest setting. Let the machine fill. If the water fills the tub 3/4 of the way, your switch is indeed bad.

On my top load washer

Might be the seal on the pump itself. If water is coming from underneath the unit, more than likely it's the pump seal. Very common problem. You'd be better off replacing the whole pump and not just the seal. Less trouble that way.

Fridge washer GLWS1349AS0, have

Hello,
To remove the trunion totally reattach the inner tub to it and twist the inner tub, with the tub attached it gives you much more leverage to twist and pull the trunion off. After its off pull the small brass ring with the O seal in it up the transmission shaft and pop the tub seal off. To replace tub bearing remove the bolts on the side of the side of the outer tub off from the tub support and pull tub off of trans. shaft. to remove bearing flip tub upside down and remove the 2 screws from the tabs on bearing and turn tub back right side up and use a screwdriver on the top of bearing and knock it out of outer tub, push new bearing in by hand most of the way, being sure the tabs on bearing is lined up w/notches on tub and use old bearing placed on top of new one and drive it down all the way, reinstall screws into tabs. All the surface rust should be sanded off of trans shaft. Re install outer tub and secure with the bolts into tub support. push main tub seal into flange with normal palm pressure, install new brass ring and MAKE SURE O RING DOESNT POP OUT OF IT ( a little dawn, palmolive joy liquid dishwashing soap around inner part of o ring inside of brass ring will help it slip on easily) I use the old brass ring and press it over new brass ring to assist in o ring not popping out, once new brass ring is inserted ok and oring in place remove and discard old brass ring. Reistall trunion and inner tub ECT ECT ECT
