try this..
If the Sony Walkman Mp3 is not detected as a drive in windows explorer but shows as a portable device in Device manager,, do the following
right Click My Computer > Manage
Select Device manager
right click Walkman , which will be under Windows Portable devices
Click Update driver
Select no, not this time, click next
Select Install from a specific list... ( Advanced) and click Next
select don search ,....
Click Next
Put a check mark in Show compatible ...
Select USB Mass storage device and click next
Conitnue and the device will be detected as a drive in windows explorer

Sony as with other NWO players do not give you a Drive Letter. You need to switch drivers from USB Device to USB Mass Storage Device, which all windows past XP have.

I bought a new Sony NWZ-B133F/BCE Walkman. When I plugged it to the USB the drivers got properly installed, but the player does not show as a removable device or any other device in My Computer.
just follow...be sure your player is connected to pc
go to my computer right click>>properties> IN HARDWARE TAB select device manager>portable audio>right click select update drivers>click next>tick the option let me choose driver for this device>next choose usb mass storage driver from two options click next....
AND U R DONE....

your screen is damaged, probably water damage.

try reseting the device its usualy a small pinhole on the back or side of the device try holding that in for about 10 seconds
try reflashing the firmware for your device you can find the latest firmware and flashing utilitys from the manufacturers website

also try and go download the drivers for it so that you can try and detect the player. If that does not work try plugging it into someone elses computer and see if it works. That way yo can figure out if it is your computer or the player. Sorry I could not be of more help.

• In mac open Disk Utility
• Select the volume named WALKMAN
• Hit UNMOUNT
• Disconnect the player

The trouble is that the player doesn't respond to the comand EJECT in this process a loop started unmounting and seconds later mounting the volume again.Hope this helps

Go to Device Manager
To get to Device Manager you will:
Right click on My Computer>Properties>click the Hardware Tab>Device Manager.
After you are in Device Manager look for your MP3 player or Unit.
Here you should see no "Yellow" exclamation points.
If you do they they are telling you that you have a device conflict.
If you currnetly have your unit plugged in, you may notice the "unknown device" which would be your Player or Unit.
If you unit has an exclamation point by it, then you will need to click on it and delete it.
After you remove all devices with conflicts then click on refresh and search again for your MP3 player/Device.
The computer should install your device this time and solve your problem with connection of the MP3 player/Device.

OK so it is a little confusing on how to create a playlist, I am about to make your headaches go away on this issue.
1.Plug your mp3 player into your computer. 2.Go to my computer and open your mp3 player in windows. 3.go to your folder on your mp3 player that you have files folders etc.. that you would like to add to a playlist. 4.right click on folder and choose "create playlist" 5.Name your playlist.
thats it ! you should now have a playlist on your MP3 player, I hope this helps.

I suggest that you go to your local radio shack and buy a universal usb plug and it is a rare but very useful plug. If radio shack doesnt have it, try going online to the factory maker and you might find that you not only can order a new plug but many more accessories for your device. please dont try and force anyhting. Your problem could be as simple as a software update. Try going to control panel, then to add hardware, then search for new hardware. If your device doesnt show up on the list I would follow through with what I first said.

I have the same problem. the model is not recognized by my main pc. frustrated

press the reset button boss..............

You need to install the Sony software - "Sony Connect (SonicStage) 4.3" on your computer so you can put your mp3s on your Sony.You can't move your songs straight to you SOny player.You find theis software on a CD included in your Sony Walkman package.Goodluck.
