I can not get videos to play on my Sony mp3. I've converted my avi files to mp4 format and moved them over to my mp3. When I try to play it back on the mp3 it says that the format is not supported. What am i doing wrong?
Hi everyone, I had this problem with the Sony MP3 players I bought for my kids (NWZ-S615F). There's a new (free) video converter from iWisoft (download.cnet.com or easy-video-converter.com) which does the trick. I looked into the others mentioned here and there were some virus/trojan horse concerns but so far this one seems fine. I downloaded the file, then did a virus scan, then ran the application and did another virus scan. I've used it 10-15 times since then and did another virus scan and nothing comes up so looks good. Choose the output file format as the first option under iPod. If it hangs while doing the conversion, try to run the output file before you get frustrated - I've found that most of the time the conversion was completed before it hung and the video plays fine.

sony mp3 model nwz-s606f tried everything including exchanging the walkman. when i create a playlist and then sync it transfers the music to the library only. when i select playlist on the mp3 play i get the message "no playlist available. please connect to compliant software or device and transfer playlists".i have followed the instruction bulletins from the readme file on the sony media manager and also on the windows media player. had the same problem with both mp3 players. is there a problem with this option on the mp3 player?? It has just been released for sale is my understanding. very frustrated.
thanks
Windows Media Player (WMP) 11 in XP does not create Playlist on my MP3 MTP device. I have a Sony Walkman NWZ-S544 but I think my problem and its solution could also apply to other MP3 players that don't receive Playlists from WMP. And perhaps to Vista and Windows 7?
When I connected my WALKMAN to my PC and used WMP to Sync (transfer) Playlists to it, the songs were correctly Synched but no Playlists were created on my WALKMAN. My problem was that Windows had installed the wrong driver for my WALKMAN. Here is how I diagnosed and fixed the problem.
DIAGNOSIS: When I used WMP to Sync, the picture in WMP's right hand window was a generic MP3 device. It should have looked like my WALKMAN NWZ-S544. When I looked at the device drivers, I couldn't find a driver for my WALKMAN NWZ-S544 under Portable Devices, but instead found a non-MTP Walkman listed as a USB Mass Storage Device. (See Fix explanation for how to look at device drivers.)
Fix: To fix the problem I first uninstalled the incorrect driver and then installed the correct driver. Here's how…
VERIFICATION: To verify that it is properly installed, look in the Device Manager under Portable Devices (while your Walkman is connected). Click + and you should see:"Walkman NWZ-S544". Or simply look under Name in My Computer and you should see an entry for Walkman NWZ-S544, and an icon that looks like your Walkman. Everything should now work properly.

how can i put videos and movies in my mp3 walkman sony
Make sure the video is in .wmv format. Sync it with Windows Media Player and it will convert it for you. You can get it into .wmv format by either using Windows Movie Maker and importing the video file and saving it, or google Prism Video converter and download that to convert it. It's fast, easy and efficient, and free.

Well every time I insert the Walkman into the computer or an outlet...A message says LOW BATTERY MUST CHARGE...also the sony Walkman screen logo stays in one place...I have no idea why this is happening
What I did when I got this error was to push the reset button on the bottom of the player itself... Mine rebooted and took a charge from the computer. Hope this all works for you.

I'm using the Sony Walkman NWZ-S615F mp3 player. I downloaded Media Manager for Walkman (MMW) 1.2, but MMW does not recognize my walkman. It tells me to connect the walkman to the PC using the USB cable when the walkman is already connected.
My PC recognizes the walkman and charges it. I can access the walkman through Windows Explorer and through Windows Media Player. I am using Windows Media Player 11, I have all the stated system requirements for MMW, and MMW works fine in searching and browsing music files on my PC. It simply does not recognize the Walkman.
With all respect, I don't want to go to some website and download some program I've never heard of to replace MMW, so don't even suggest it. I just want to make MMW work. If I can't make it work, I can just use WMP 11, so I don't need any links to other programs. Thank you.

Can anyone specifically walk me through
step by step
how to do it?
thanks
Okay:
If this is windows
1 connect the player to your computer
2 go to 'My computer'
3 select your mp3 player's icon, until you see one of the folders marked 'Music'(or something like that)
4 then just delete the songs you want deleted.
Sorry if this didn't work, I'm short on time

I have a Sony Walkman NWZ-E435F and it wont turn on at all it wont even charge on the usb.
I had the same problem. For at least a week. Try pressing the reset button. The reset button won't delete your music, videos, pictures, etc. Just resets your system. If that does not work then i don't know what else to tell you.

I've been using my Walkman model #NWZ-S615F with my computer for months now and all of the sudden, it won't connect. In the past when I plugged it in you couldn't access your songs. Now when I plug it in, it just automatically turns on and my computer isn't even recognizing it so I can add/remove songs and/or charge it. I tried to "chat" with the Sony Tech Support on their website and that was a total joke...any suggestions?
In addition to this problem it has also been locking up and for the 1st time, yesterday in the middle of using it it lost sound. You could still see the screen and scroll through songs, but even when I tried to adjust the volume, it wouldn't respond (you could still hear the beeps, though). After turning it off and letting it sit for about 8 hours, it was like nothing ever happened...??
What you can try doing is to uninstall the driver that the computer has installed for it. To do this, right click on My Computer/Computer (depending on your OS it has different names) click properties, and then manage. Once that opens, on the left menu, select Device Manager. From there, plug in your MP3 player, double click to get to its properties, and then uninstall it. restart your computer, and hopefully that should fix it so you can get into it and format it. If you have any problems, repost and i can try helping you more. Sean Huffstickler
