How do I type the copyright icon?

Hi David, To do that you need to follow the instruction below: To use the codes:
  • Place your cursor in the location where you wish to insert a special character.
  • Activate the numeric key pad on the right of the keyboard by pressing Num Lock (upper right of keyboard). ...
  • While pressing down the ALT key, type the four-digit code on the numeric key pad at the right edge of the keyboard.
The way I normally do it easily is search Google or Bing for "copyright" and copy the symbol from there and then paste it where it is needed. Henry.

Different hard drive

Turn the computer off. Disconnect the power-cord. Open the side-panel on the computer's case, to reveal the insides. Disconnect both the "data" and "power" cables from the disk-drive. Remove the disk drive. Take the disk drive to a computer store, and tell them that you want to replace it with one that is the same PHYSICAL size -- you may get one that stores many more GB of data. Insert the disk drive. Reconnect the cables. Close the cover. Reconnect the power cable. Turn it on. Reinstall Windows.

Computer fans pulse

There could be several reasons for this, but I would suspect your power supply first. For more free in-depth help go to www.suggest-a-fix.com which is a free computer help forum that I belong to. Post in the Hardware section and I (or someone else) will be along. This forum is not set up for complicated problems that require detailed, in-depth communications.

How do I remove the hard drive in a dell vostro 200 computer?

Dear Robert, NB: STOP! MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE TURNED THE POWER SWITCH AT THE WALL OFF! THEN PRESS & HOLD DOWN THE MAIN POWER BUTTON FOR A FEW SECONDS! THIS SHOULD "EARTH" THE UNIT. IT IS BEST PRACTICE TO USE AN ANTI- STATIC WRIST BAND CLIPPED TO A BARE-METAL PART OF THE FRAME. They are available from an electronics shop for just a couple of bucks. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ONE ""AT LEAST"" \'EARTH\' YOUR BODY BY TOUCHING - FOR A COUPLE OF SECONDS - A SCREW-HEAD OR OTHER BARE-METAL PART OF THE FRAME. Wait until any LED-lights on the main mother-board have gone off. Clip your wrist-strap on to a screw-head, etc. ... First thing I noticed is that it APPEARS that you have to remove 2x screws to release the side cover which seems to slide back to open.Remove the power cable from the hard drive. GENTLY Remove the data cable from the hard drive. It then looks like that you have to remove another 2x screws holding the hard drive frame. Remove hard-drive assembly. Remove HDD from frame. Replace; - it appears to be a "SATA" drive in the vid that i watched...make sure that yours is ...unless it is an older model than the one in the vid i watched, in which case it will be a "PATA " drive...(PATA: Parallel ATA; SATA: Serial ATA - most modern boxes are now fitted with SATA drives which have a much more narrow cable & plug, than the very wide strapped PATA drives.) NB: Make sure that the tiny "Jumper" connector on the back edge of the HDD is in the same position on the new drive - (logical position, not necessarily the same physical position- if in doubt "CS" = "Cable Select" is always a safe choice) Reverse the procedure & when ready - reboot: your "BIOS" - (Basic Input Output System) - should find & configure the new hard-drive, while booting-up. BTW: A lot of people will tell you that an anti-static strap is un-needed, but almost ALL of the chips in the box are extremely sensitive to static electricity & the human body can carry up to 50,000 volts of static - very easily generated by clothing; walking on carpet; etc. IF YOU DO BLOW A CHIP, THEN IT CAN CAUSE (A) FAULT(S) THAT ARE HARD TO FIND & EX$PEN$IVE TO REPAIR! I hope that this helps. Kind regards - Bruce Gilbert.

My vostro beeps 5 times continously from startup

Hi Femi, 5 beeps on a Vostro generally means that the internal CMOS battery (the one responsible for your laptop keeping its time etc) has failed and needs to be replaced. You're best taking the laptop to a local computer shop to get the CMOS battery swapped out. Many thanks, Jon.

Spot screen

Hello First find an external monitor to test if its the screen on your laptop or the graphics chip in your laptop. If you have an external monitor then hook it up to your laptop and toggle the video over to see if you still see the spot.If it only shows on the laptop screen the Replace the screen. Another thing you can do is run the built in Diagnostics Diagnostics before windows using the F12 Diagnostics * Reboot and press F12 to enter the Boot Menu * When the boot device list appears, highlight Diagnostics and press Enter * The computer begins to run the Pre-boot System Assessment, a series of embedded diagnostics that perform initial testing on your system board, keyboard, hard drive, and display * If the Pre-boot System Assessment completes successfully, you receive the message Booting Dell Diagnostic Utility Partition * Press any key to continue * Press any key to start the Dell Diagnostics from the Diagnostics utility partition on your hard drive * After the Dell Diagnostics loads and the Main Menu screen appears, click the button for the option you want to run - Express Test = Performs a quick test of devices. The test typically takes 10 to 20 minutes and requires no interaction on your part Extended Test = Performs a thorough check of devices. The test typically takes 1 hour or more and requires you to answer questions periodically Custom Test = Tests a specific device. You can customize the tests to be run Symptom Tree = Allows you to select tests based on a symptom of the problem you are experiencing * When you have finished running a test, close the screen to return to the Main Menu screen. To exit the Dell Diagnostics and reboot the computer, close the Main Menu screen.

Solid amber power button

this could be one of many problems that you won't like. Could be that the boot file or the graphics card pgms are corrupted or damaged so your desktop cannot fulfill the boot process. Could be a short or failure of the cpu fan to come on too. More information like sounds, other parts failing like DVD not working either, or cannot hear fans running? A bit more info could maybe narrow the problem down.
