A guess - Some phones have a conference, room monitor or intercom feature. Make sure all intercom use is off on each handset as well.

Hi,

To cutoff ringer volume in Vtech cordless phones,you have to turn off the base ringer.
Handset:
program button->up/down" key to cycle until you see the Ringer selection->up/down" key(s) to cycle until the OFF selection
Base Ringer:
Menu->press menu until you hear "Base Ringer, to change base ringer press change"->PLAY/STOP button to save

Sorry, you can't. Your new headset uses the DECT 6.0 protocol where your old 5.8GHz headset uses a different protocol. It would be like trying to play a videotape on a DVD player.

first of all using magic jack compared to a hardwired is complete nonsense, in an electrical storm if your building is hit it fries the magic jack gear, and you cannot dial 911, secondly, there is no battery back-up compared to dc fed phone lines!

This phone doesn't give you a way to change the ringer volume. However page 9 of this manual describes how to change the ringer style.

I've been told this phone does not have a speaker. if it has tiny holes on the back it has a speaker. if theres a speaker there should be a button with a picture of a speaker

Hello Genevieve, What you need to do is re-program the phone answering system. To do this you would need the set up instructions which can be found in the user manual. Answering machine instructions can be found on on page 26. Reset the system by cutting off the power to the unit and then take out the battery for about 5 mins.
