I was also having such kind of problem with my asus laptop. Have you tried doing a system recovery using the "hot" keys for the machine. Contact ASUS support for the instructions.

If you have a volt-ohm meter check that you have voltage at the plug to the computer. If no voltage, the power supply is bad or the socket does not have power (circuit breaker) change to a known working 120vac socket. Dobble check your laptop's power supply. If still bad, see if you can barrow one, or take laptop to repair shop and ask them to try their power supply. Then you will know to purchase a replacement.

Download an app called Taskmanager. Run/open it and elect to end all running programs. This should close your web browser. Im guessing when you say internet explorer you mean Safari?

No reset is necessary to fix this problem. Screen rotation is a typical feature on many laptops.
To rotate the display on the screen 180 degrees, simply press CTRL, ALT & down arrow on your laptop's keyboard.

on the mouse pad sometimes you will find a little touch button that immobilses the pad

Usually FN and F5..............Try FN with other F? keys if it doesn't work with F5

Uninstall the wireless adapter under the device manager, restart the computer.

Have the power adaptor checked by an electrician, most probably you will need a replacement.

If you establish that the adaptor is working, then something happened to the battery charging circuitry in your Asus and it will need repair.

If it's still under warranty, then you are good, otherwise it would be better if the adaptor alone failed, as replacement adaptors are rather inexpensive compared to laptop repairs.

check for a virus

Close open apps - could be something else hanging up everything (try keyboard; alt+F4, etc) if no luck try reboot, make sure is plugged in before power up

If you have run the laptop in safe mode it uses the standard VGA graphics driver, and this indicates the onboard graphics card is still functioning.
Try connecting and external monitor to your laptop and the boot up your laptop.
Then :-
1. Download the latest graphics driver from ASUS WEB site.
2. uninstall the graphics driver.
3. Reboot the laptop and install the new graphics driver.
4. Shut down and remove the external monitor and reboot.
5. Goto the Control panel - Display and check/set the settings for screen resolution, Colour setting etc.

It will only heat up if power is being used, but it could also mean that the adapter is bad.

check with a multi tester inside for red and outside for black, check to see if you are getting at least 15 volts or higher voltage.

make sure you set the multitester to VDC, Thats Direct Current Voltage or DC voltage.

if you are getting power thru the adpater head try wiggling the tip a bit to see if theres a broken wire inside the head Adapter head tends to break at the tip sometimes.

if your getting power then you might have a broken adapter plug in the laptop, you might a suitable adapter plug at a electronic store or ebay, might need or reqiure some soldering on the board if you dont know how to solder i suggest you leave it to the PRO's.

if no power coming from the adapter then time to replace the adapter, i figure adapter last about 1-2 years before they need replacing due to wear and tear and neglect. If you do not take care of your electronics they will not take care of you!.
