Why can't I play audio on certain avi and mkv files on Mountain Lion?

Sounds like it might be a codec that is not included in the OS or the applications you have tried. Can you try VLC player? It's one of the most versatile media players around and plays almost everything that I've come across.

How to change where screenshots are saved on Mac?

Step 1: Search for Terminal in Spotlight Search in the top-right menu bar. Terminal App Step 2: Open Terminal and type the following command: defaults write com.apple.screencapture location ~/Documents/Screenshots Step 3: To apply the changes, enter the following command: killall SystemUIServer That's it. If you entered the commands successfully, your screenshots will now save to a Screenshots folder within your Documents. Make sure to actually create the folder before applying the changes through Terminal though. Also, you can type any directory that you wish to save screenshots to, as it doesn't have to be ~/Documents/Screenshots if you would prefer something else.

Underwent an issue with my iPhone and lost all my data. How do I access the backup?

You would have had to add your iCloud account details when you configured your iPhone to enable the backup. To check that your data exists, go to the following URL and login: iCloud Here you should be able to see your data. Assuming it has been backed up, go to your Apple computer "System Preferences" -> "iCloud" and select the data that you would like to keep in sync.

Trying to run OS X 10.8 on a computer with an Atom and NM10 chipset? Should be OK as long as your CPU is one of the 64 bit ones. Try the latest chameleon package and build a boot USB stick with kernel patcher module is installed - 10.8.2 should install fine.

Os x mountain lion 10.8.4

you simply cannot "uninstall" mountain lion just like that... You need to accept this like 20 times before it will be preformed. So I'm guessing you mean something else than "uninstalling" mountain lion? Perhaps you have just changed a setting so the "gray start-up screen" is no longer visible. You can change this in your settings screen, at "users".

Where do i purchase rebootable os x mountain lion

Greetings . . . Lesley - they don't exist. Seriously. Apple has decided to store the OS on a 'hidden' partition in case a restore is needed. Also, if the drive is replaced the EFI has an option to download and install the OS from the internet. There are various schemes (unsupported by Apple) to build a bootable CDROM from data on that partition. The other approach that you can use is to purchase Apple MacOS Server of the same version. This will come on a DVD. I'm considering this option myself . . . .Good LuckMark

Where do I purchase os x mountain lion rebootable

Lion, Mountain Lion, and Mavericks (10.7, 10.8, and 10.9 respectively) do not come on a physical CD or DVD. They are downloaded and installed through the Mac App Store. After installing 10.7 or later, a 'hidden' partition is created on your computer that serves the same function as the physical discs did in earlier versions of OS X (10.6 and earlier), giving you access to Disk Utility, Install OS X, Get Help Online, and other functions that previously were accessed from a physical disc. If for some reason the hard drive is damaged or the Recovery Partition is otherwise inaccessible, you can access the same utilities over the internet using Internet Recovery. One can, however, create a bootable flash drive as a physical backup of your Recovery Partition using Recovery Disk Assistant. All the information on how to access Recovery Partition, Internet Recovery, and Recovery Disk Assistant are available from the following articles: OS X: About OS X RecoveryOS X Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0

My apps won't run on new OS how can I revert to

There is no easy way to "downgrade" Mac OSX from 10.8 to 10.6.. You would have to find a 10.6 installer and cleanly install on the harddrive, which would delete the apps you are trying to use. Maybe a different way of looking at this is figuring out A) How to make your current apps work on 10.8 or B) Are there any new apps that can accomplish the same tasks as your old apps. If you post the apps that are giving you issues maybe we can help find you a better solution.

How do I reduce Macbook Pro extensive battery loss after installing Mountain Lion?

How long does it take to lose 1/3 of its battery? What stuff are you doing? Internet browsing? Watching videos? ... And are you using a recent Macbook Pro, or is it an old model? Kinda hard to answer without any of this info.Old Macbooks have crappy batteries that only last a couple of years. If you're not doing anything crazy and it still depletes quickly, you should consider buying a replacement battery.

How to upgrade from mac os x 10.4.11 to a higher version

If your computer has OS X 10.4 installed on it, it's likely that you have a PowerPC processor. Apple used these for years before switching to Intel processors in 2006. The highest version of OS X that you'll be able to run on a PowerPC Mac is 10.5 (Leopard). You will not be able to install Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion.Easy way to check if you have PowerPC or Intel is by clicking on "About This Mac" in the Apple menu (top left of your screen).
