Hi,
I'm sorry for that problem appear in your Sony Bravia tv.
It seems problem of lcd panel (screen) if 2 inch wide stripe is either at one side or some where else in screen. It will be good if you post screen image in question thread, image file size should be under 150kb jpeg so it can be uploaded without any problem.
If tv is under warranty, please call Sony on number written on warranty documents of tv to replace lcd panel under warranty cover and if tv is out of warranty then lcd panel replacement would cost approx 80% of new tv price.
Let me know if you have any question.
Thanks.

Sound but no picture

Hi,

Problem is in either power supply or - my bet - the Y-Sustain board.

The Y-Sustain is a relatively large board out of which go connections to the side of the display; it's therefore closer to either the left or the right side of the display, has at least one rather large heat sink on it and fat power cables connecting it to the main power supply.

Often there are fuses on that board - one or more. Check those.

if they are blown you can try to replace them, but expect them to blow again - usually the whole board needs to be replaced.

often that *needs* to be done in a service center as there are some adjustments to be made after replacement; don't know about this particular TV model.

Hope this helpout

Hooked up pc to tv says unsupported video signal

What its telling you is that the display seting on your computer is not compatable with what the tv can handle. Most newer pc's video cards will have settings meant just for doing exactly this.

To check your video setting just right click anywhere on an empty space on the desktop then left click properties. Then click the setting tab. Depending on your setup you may be using one or both displays. Usually the video card will be able to detect what is connected and it will limit the settings. All you need to do is adjust the slider to a setting that the tv likes and you are done. If you have the tv manual handy it should have a section on which the settings it will be able to use. The problem can also occur when the video card is not capable of putting out a setting the tv can live with. In that case you may need to look at upgrading the card. Just about any new one does support the tv modes.

My toshiba regza is shutting

Sounds like you might have an infrared emitter somewhere pulsing at the same frequency as your tv for on/off. Try covering the infrared 'eye' on the TV with a piece of foil. if that stops the tv from going on and off then you can take a camera like one you find on a cell phone that can see infrared light and look around the house for whats emitting the signal. easy way to see if the cameras can see infrared light is to turn it on and point it at the end of a remote. when you press buttons on the remote you should see the normally invisible light blinking.

46"toshiba regaza tv has recently developed a

Hello,

All plasma an lcd TVs have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times reseating the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They can sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, and the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.

Good luck.

I cant program any channels on my tv. Toshiba 42

Which specific model from Toshiba do you have? There are several 42" TVs released with the Regza name. Most of the manuals can be found on the Toshiba support web site. http://www.tacp.toshiba.com/customersupport/

The one that I have allows for the channels to be set from the On-Screen Menu. In the TV mode, press Menu (there is a Menu button on the side of the TV). Navigate with the arrow keys (CH+, CH-, Vol+, Vol-) to the Setup menu and highlight Installation and press Enter (the Menu button is also the Enter key when using the buttons on the TV). Then highlight Channel Program and then Start and press Enter. When the search is done, press Ch+ or Ch- to view a station. To add or delete channels, use the Channel Add/Delete that is one line below Channel Program. Use the enter key to change the check mark status next to a channel. If adding a digital sub-channel not previously found, enter the number manually on the remote using the 100 key to add the dash. If the channel isn't found, an error message will result.

I hope this helps.

Sound but no picture on 42" Regza.

It is either the backlight inverter is not getting the 24vdc from the power supply or the inverter board is bad. Look for bad components, short circuits, dark brown heat spots, fuses.
If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

No sound

Let verify first to narrow down to where the problem can be. First, check the on screen sound set up menu to make sure the speakers are not set to OFF. If the setting is OK, then attach the powered PC speakers to the Audio Line out RCA jacks to see if you can get the sound there, if you do, then the problem can be in the power amp circuits, if you do not get the sound at RCA jacks, then the problem can be in the sound processor circuit. Please post back what you find.

My brand new 52 inch toshiba lcd tv screen turns

I bought a 52" 1080p 52VR series for $100 dollars off of craigs, Half the screen would flicker at bright colors and then bam, solid lines on exactly half the screen. About three hours later I have a new regza running like a charm. The issue is and I quote "Toshiba, Samsung, Vizo are all ****, they don't have fans and burn out or they have surges from outlets". Removing the back and pointing the fan the modules it delayed the amount of time before flicker occured and was able to pin point which board it was by unpluggin one by one from connection, (psu was working fine) until I came to the T-com board covered by foil on top. I've done wonders with my heat gun (Props to Microsoft and HP as your shortcuts deflected excuses, horrible offshore service, and short warranties made me small fortune on xbox's and dv9000's alone.) ((to Schanoop at microsoft, keep laughing your kids college fund was spent on sweatpants for the homeless)), my 1257 revived and resold laptops and 360's and now 3 flat's all from my "19.95" husky heat gun. Back to the point.

The corners cut today are fans and leaded solder that won't crack or melt. hairlines cause catastrophic problems. I removed the T-con panel (you tube this before you try it and watch it done first) placed chip and pin side up on a marble surface using four 1/4 bolts placed under each fastner slot. yet agian you tube red ring fix with heat gun, but in circular motions heat the points of contact on the board (where chips and connectors meet SF objects, and for about 2 and half minutes heat the cheap solder up to let it reform. Gravity itself will take care of the rest as with the chip facing up (connectors as well) it will sink back fixing any cracks or broken connections. Most improtant, don't touch it, let it fix itself by giving it 45 minute minimum cool down. and thats how I got a 3 thousand dollar TV for one hundred dollars.

Just incase you have the same problem and this didn't fix it, these are the other things I did with the board off. Remove the foil from t-con shield, (i tossed it) and where the ribbons meet the lcd itself, I noticed the distribution boards have small pegs to sit in for fit and restriction. However I'm guessing do to poor ventalation, these boards were warped and refused to stay flat and would pop up and off the pegs. Using tweezers I held them on the pegs and used a buffing wheel off my dremel as a pad to put pressure between the metal frame and the board so it was forced to stay flat and on the peg. second thing I did was handle my t-con (aside from the points it's a tough little board) like an unwanted cat as fell off the tv onto hardwood, I used a 48 watt solder to touch the tips up and accidently solder a SFC to an open circut, couldn't even see the damn switch without a 10x loop, I used a desolder gun to fix the intermitten issue. I am positive however that the problem lied in the solder they use to save costs as it melts at low heat, and when your pushing technology thats running twice as hot because the numbers are bigger make for unique opps for my heat gun. I'll work on a shorter version but after reinstalling, I threw a cpu fan above the t-con and it's been smooth sailing.

Menu screen popping up

Remove the batteries, un-screw the back cover of your remote, you'll find a circuit board take that off, clean the other side of that board (the one painted green) with a cotton slighty wet with rubbing alcohol as well as the black carbon on your remote pad, let it dry put it back together replace with a new battery, I guess this'll work
