You will have to choose from BIOS or boot menu if it has one during POST.Try using the old drive as the primary on the new system, but make sure you get at least the network drivers install for the new system handy. The BSOD may follow if it was software related.I suggest you keep the new system in tact and use the old drive as storage via USB, and slowly make the transition to Win 7 / 8. They are much better OS's than Vista. gl
