I have a Tamron 70-300mm Tele-Macro lens that doesn't auto focus. It's like it is locked up. I have tried moving the normal/macro switch and that doesn't move either. Any ideas will be welcome.

If that is the only lens that you have for that camera, it could be the camera that is bad. There is a sensor in the camera that measures the focus and they do wear out.

Canon 30d with tamron af 70-300mm di macro lense showing error 99

'Error 99' indicates some problem with the AF contacts. This is a common error in Canon lenses. It could indicate a very simple problem like dirty contacts or a much serious one like the breakage of USM cable. Alternately, it can also be a card error or camera error.

First remove the lens, battery and card and leave the camera like that for about 30 min. After that, insert a fully charged battery and switch on the camera. If the error still shows up, it is a fault with the camera and has to be serviced.
If not, turn the camera off and insert the card. Format the card in the camera and depress the shutter button. If it shows an error, the card is faulty.

If not,
try cleaning the lens and body contacts (the metal contacts between the lens and body) using a pencil eraser. Be careful to hold the body facing down so that no dust falls inside. After cleaning both the lens and the body contacts, re-attach the lens and try shooting.

If the error still shows up, you need to take the lens to an authorized service center.

Hi ,i have a tamton 70-mm that it stop focusing

Do you really mean it stopped focusing manually, or did it stop auto-focusing? If it is the latter, check the M/AF switch on the lens near the camera body and make sure it is set to AF.

I have a tamron 70-300mm

This is the kind of error which you always risk these days in buying lenses which are not from your camera manufacturer. Error 01 simply means that the camera cannot communicate with the lens. Canon's protocols are not open standards and third party manufacturers have to reverse engineer to produce something which works. As they're working in the dark, they cannot always arrive at a solution which makes all models suit all Canon bodies.

You have two possible solutions:-

Visually inspect the contacts on the lens and the camera body and if they're anything other than clean and bright then use a clean pencil eraser on them. Be very, very, careful not to let any of the rubber crumbs into the lens or the camera body.

If that fails, visit the Tamron website to see whether the lens can be returned to be updated for other bodies. if it can't then sell it and buy a later Tamron model or better still a Canon one. They may cost more, but the results are better and their resale value is much higher.

Shutter isn't opening in the

The SHUTTER IS NOT IN THE LENS. I\The shutter is in the camera body in front of the ccd or cmos sensor. You are talking aboput the aperture blades. Try changing the aperture, of course, unless you have a depth of field preview, you will not see the diaphragm open.close.

Drop my Nikon D100 camera with a Tamron AF

First question "is it worth repairing" if it were mine I'd look to see what a new one is worth then divide that in half (cause that's what you might be able to buy a used one for) then figure about $120.00 for cleaning lubricating and adjusting the your lens. With your lens you know what you have, buying used might need the service. you are the one to decide. As for the second question "can I repair it myself" short answer no. If you have to ask if you can repair it then you don't have the necessary tools and general knowledge of how to dismantle and reassemble the lens (and have it work when finished). The lens took a hit and most likely set the inner and outer lens barrels out of alignment causing the inner barrel to slip out of its seal and or focusing gear and hang things up forcing it will break parts causing more repair costs. All else fails get an estimate before repair. Been there with a lens myself and after a couple a months without bit the bullet and had it repaired. Cheers best of luck

How do i attach my sigma lens to my nikon d300

I'm going to assume the Sigma lens has a Nikon mount. If it has any other mount then it won't fit on a Nikon camera.

Align the mounting mark on the lens with the mark on the camera body (at about the two-o'clock position). Push the lens into the mount then twist the lens counterclockwise until it clicks in place.

It's the exact same procedure you would use with a Nikon lens.
