Panasonic DECT 6.0 shows "in use" but it's not. Why?

When I get this error, it's often a problem with the phone line wiring. Sometimes, it is the phone itself. I like to use a spare corded phone and a new RJ-11 cord to localize the problem. First, try using the spare phone at the jack where the Panasonic base is plugged in. If you get a dial tone with the spare phone, try the new RJ-11 cable with the phone. If there is still no dial tone, then the phone needs repair or replacement. If you do not have dial tone with the spare phone, try the test phone at another jack on that phone line.If there is dial tone, there is a problem with the first jack. You will need to open the jack and check the wiring. These are either keystones jacks or screw terminals. The keystone type require a special tool to press the wires into the terminal block. This is available at many hardware stores in the electrical wiring aisle (with the keystones and wires for whole house video/telecommunications access). If you still have no dial tone, find the telephone access box. If you are lucky, that box has RJ-11 jacks so that you can test the line. If there is still no dial tone, contact your phone company. Outside line problems will be fixed by your provider. If you have dial tone at the access box, you have a wiring problem somewhere inside. You can try to track the wires in any exposed area for signs of damage. You might want to call a professional to check the wires in the wall. Your phone company will do this for a fee. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells(my own phones gave "Line In Use" when a contractor damaged a wire digging in the wrong spot and when mice got to the underground lines outside. Those problems were fixed by the phone company.)

Message light on phones keeps blinking on detc6.0 even though messages have been erased

Apparently you have subscribed to a voicemail system offered by your telephone company, and your phone is notifying you of messages on that system. Please contact your telephone company for instructions and help on accessing this system.

Digital cordless phone Model# KX-TG6413 lightning

If you are lucky, it may just be a blown fuse. You can try disassembing the base unit and checking for an open fuse inside on the circuit board. Please remember to disconnect the power supply and the phone line before disassembly.

Otherwise the circuits in the base unit were probably fried in the resulting power surge and are likely beyond economical repair.

However, the old handset(s) are probably still good. So if you do get a new replacement base unit of the same model, then you can probably salvage the old handsets and just program them for use with the new base.

I hope that was helpful, good luck and take care.

Joe.

I would like to change

I had the same problem but couldn't figure it out either ..... UNTIL, I changed the date and time (which was very old, actually Sept/2007) to the current date, year, time, am/pm, etc.

After I changed the date, time, year, etc. my phone went back to its normal default of 3 or 4 rings & then the answering message plays.

Hope this helps!

The default code is "111". If you need to change the code, you must be at the phone, press MENU button, enter #305, enter the three digit code you want, press SAVE, then OFF button. I have included a link where you can download the manual if you need it, the code reset is on page 34.

I cannot go down my list of who has phoned

Press the 'CID/FLASH' button to review the telephone-numbers of those who have called you.
Then, use 'UP/DOWN' to scroll through the list of callers.

Set the Panasonic to answer after *EIGHT* rings -- after *FOUR* rings, SaskTel's voice-mail will "answer" the call. So, there will not be "fifth" and "sixth" and "seventh" and "eighth" rings, and so your answering-machine will never get a chance to "answer" the call.

My handset has a blinking icon, indicating not close to base

I found the 800 number to call, spoke to customer service, they gave me the suggestion of unplugging the base from the outlet, removing the batteries from the handset, wait 5 minutes and plug in and put in the batteries. Yes, that fixed it. And then the customer service technician called back later to see if it had worked. I thought that was above and beyond the call of duty. Certainly a good way to win customers!
