I cannot see Jupiter and its colored bands. All I
You may need a larger apeture for more detail. Do you have the closeup lense in place? I had a telescope many years ago and all I could see is about what you describe. It's the lenses you use, not a fault of the scope.
How do I focus on the moon
first, use the lowest power eyepiece, that's the one with the high number on it with 'mm' after the number.
for a refractor telescope (uses lenses), you might have to add a diagnal lens (either 45 degree or 90 degree, whichever one you have) to focus on an object.
attach it in this order:
low power eyepiece-->diagnal lens-->main telescope
for a reflector telescope (uses mirrors, a telescope with a big tube with a mirror at the bottom and a focusing knob on one side of the tube). the open part of the tube points to your target.
hope this helps :D
I can't see thru it. It looks like there is a
Are you talking about the dust cap on the end of the telescope? It either screws off, or is just friction fit and comes off.
Need more details-- what brand and type of telescope do you own?
Celestron NextStar 80 GTL hand held problem, tried to
You obviously burned out something inside. Many of these scopes require a proprietary style 12 volt plug with the correct polarity ---
My only suggestion would be to contact celestron and send it in for repair.

I have a 21086 and cannot see anything?
Put in the eyepiece with the largest number written on it--- and take it outside during the day and practice focusing onj a distant object. The moon should be your first night time object.
DO YOU HAVE A MUCH CHEAPER ASTRONOMICAL TELESCOPE
Cheap telescopes are just toys-- I am sorry but you will need to spend about $200-$300 to get a good beginner telescope-- here are two suggestions-

Telescope compass
You need to adjust the compass to compensate for MAGNETIC North vs TRUE North -- here in Texas we are about 5 degrees East of true north--
Here are some web sites that will help you--

Can't see anything though the telescope
You probably don't have the focus right. Just turn the focus knob until you see something. It can take anywhere from 70-80 turns from full extension to compression. Careful not to force it when it stops turning.
See nothing but black
Put the lowest magnification eyepiece in the telescope. It's the one with the LARGEST number --- try focusing on a distant light at night or distant object during the daytime.
