I have a smartparts picture frame.SP113mw Just
The first (most obvious?) solution is to discard/destroy/disable/discombobulate the SP113MW. For my Mother-in-Law, I just deleted some of her images from built-in flash. The SP113MW has a 128 mB flash drive that is accessible by USB, per previous suggestions. HOWEVER, the probable reason that your frame freezes on startup is that you have more than 744 images in the "Smartparts Pictures" folder on the built-in flash memory. The SP113MW has a maximum limit of 744 images for a slideshow rotation, regardless of how much space is on the drive (that includes Built-in flash, USB, SD, or any of the drives). The default drive on startup is the built-in flash, so you may just have to delete some images to get under the 744 limit. FORGET the manufacturer's claim of "2000 images" (because it is technically correct); you can store 2000, but you'll never play a slideshow of 2000 (nor any slideshow if you have that many images). Reduce to 744 (all jpg's) and all will be well. The other irritating thing about the SP113MW is that it does not allow the slideshow to include all drives: just one drive at a time, and that drive cannot have more than 744 images on it (or the slideshow freezes). That is why your comment about "trash" may not be a bad idea. However, mine Mother-in-Law's still works, so I accepted the limit, and it still sits on her shelf.
