My Grill will no longer lift

I just had mine apart today because the cable broke. There is only one damper, in the left side where the pedal is. The other side is controlled by a cable that is strung on rollers. My cble broke so i had to replace it with one from a hardware store. I noticed that everything needs to be oiled for the system to work good. The gas strut/damper is inside of the lift tube. I would think it could be matched up with one from an automotive store. Autozone has a pretty good selection of them. But, The strut that is in the grill has a special end on it to fit the lift tube, you would have to somehow fabricate a new end or try to cut and weld or braze the old one onto the new strut. I have not had the strut problem yet because when I store the grill I leave it in the up position. this takes the stress and pressure off of the strut. Hope this helps.

Pedal does not bring up grill

If you can still raise it manually, it probably needs new hydraulic struts. Mine actually never worked from new, and I am taking mine apart today to fix it. I will let you know what the part number is of the strut.

The grill doesn't want to Pop-Up. took it apart and sprayed WD40 on it, Cable and Springs are good, still doesn't come up. Any Ideas anyone ? Thanks. **Found out it is a Gas strut/Ram, no Spring.

probably need to replace the gas struts as they do leak gas and are not responsive if you cannot get new struts ,there are places that can re-gas struts

You can remove #1 spark plug and let someone bump it over with your finger in the plug hole, when you feel it blow your finger out the hole it's close, stick a screwdriver in the plug hole and turn the belts or crank pulley until the screwdriver is at its highest point .thats true top dead center on compression stroke. One side of the grill base will not rise up

One one side, there is a gas strut which is connected to the other side via a cable, similar to that which you would find on a bicycle for the brake. When the strut side raises (it uses this cable and a series of pulley's) it shortens the cable and raises the other side. With use, this cable where's and can slide off the pulley. It could also be that this cable has been damaged, although the prior is more likely the case. It's fairly easy to disassemble and inspect. One regular and one small philips screw driver, along with a pair of needle nose plier are all the tools necessary. If you would like further info. please let me know.

Grate grill

yes, it is but the manufacturer does not make this available. we have to use other grates that just happen to be the right size and install using the same kind of support.
