See page 15 of your manual. That warning per your manual is a safety feature meaning the oven is too hot to bake bread and needs to cool off first. This warning usually happens when baking one loaf after another. If you haven't been baking then you have an electronics problem. Can I add baking time to aBreadman TR442SPR? I
If you have a program that says "Bake", select that then push the "up" on your control panel. Each time you push the arrow you should add 10 minutes to the "Bake" stage. push it twice you get 20 minutes of additional baking etc, etc, if you like this answer please vote and leave me some good feedback....thanks rmpgda!

the smoke is most likely for flour spilling out and landing on the heating element. Sometimes some dough can fall in between to. Check the outer sides of the baking pan. If you don't see anything down there its probably just a dusting of flour on the element.

Bread machine arm will not turn except manually
Hi,
There is a sealed bearing in the base of the bread pan. The paddle rotates on the sealed bearing shaft. The bearing is filled with a lubricant that is sealed inside the bearing. Over time this lubricant may have gotten hard, or the rubber in the bearing got a little brittle. If this bearing sticks the paddle will not spin. The hot water may have loosened everything up. Your friend that told you to use hot water in the pan probably saved you the expense of a new pan. Hank
