Minn Kota Maxxum 55 Freshwater Bow Mount Trolling Motor - Answered Questions & Fixed issues
Prop spins slow on any speed on the foot pedal
There is a good chance that the control board is bad. This is a common problem with these units. I have replaced my control board twice. When the control board goes out, some function of the unit will not work correctly while other functions work fine. The first time mine went out, the prop motor would not work. The last time the board went out, the unit would only steer right.
Minn Kota 65lb thrust 24v
Hello!
Your unit was desined to run on 24 Volts.
The control unit (electronics) will not run below 19 Volts (19 or 20, I can't remember) and the armature windings and magnets are designed for 24V as well. So, an easy answer is no your unit will not operate in 12volts.
Hope this helps out!

When troll motor is switch to mom and pedal
I'd be looking at a connection problem AFTER where the pedal connects to the unit. It doesn't take much of a "bridge" to cause an open at the chassis mount OR perhaps in the home unit itself. Since the unit runs when switched to "CON" we can eliminate a power supply issue. I'd be looking for an obvious physical problem such as a cold solder joint. Try cleaning the circuit board with silicone spray (SAFE FOR PLASTICS ONLY!!!) and see if that gives you any joy.Hope this helps and good luck!
Has power, clicks when engaged but prop doesn't
I just ahd this problem too. IT ended up that one of the leads had come off the motor inside the housing. In my case it was the black lead going to the brush. Take the top part off you control head, and apply 12v directly to the motor leads that extend down the tube. If the motor doesn't turn, then the problem is in the motor itself.
Minnkota Traxxis Model 1368716 will run in reverse
it could be the coil pack in the nose cone of the trolling motor which is not serviceable but can be replaced at a reasonable cost. it could also be the switch in the handle but it seems less likely. there is a test protocol to follow if you know how to use a volt/ohm meter. call the 800 number on your motor and have the tech send or email you the testing proceedure. they are very helpful and can give you the prices on the parts you need. good luck.
Minn-kota wiring battery charger 4 bank trolling
call the 800 number for minn kota on the head of your unit for questions or technical data. they will send you a copy of your manual also if you dont have it. i am not sure what your question is so ask them to save yourself time.
Hot plug connector
if everthing else is hooked up properly and the battery connections are tight i would suspect a loose connection in either the plug or the receptacle. anytime an electrical connection heats up it usually means there is a loose connection or too many amps running through it than what its designed for. remember trolling motors should not be run out of the water for more than 30 seconds as they use the water to cool the output shaft at the prop. good trolling.
How do i hook up the 3 12 volt batteries for 36
Not sure why you need 36V but here's how.
<--P---N----P----N----P----N------>
Bat 1 Bat 2 Bat 3
You basically string them together. If you put a voltmeter on each end of the group you should have 36 volts or near it depending on the charge of the batteries.
