HOW TO HOOK UP THE power

It ever well could be a transducer or a unit issue. I would contact customer service and see what they can work out for you.

There should be an in-line fusible link on the power supply wire and it should be checked for a blown fuse. If there is no fuse protecting the head unit, it may have received a voltage spike internally and caused internal circuit damage, requiring replacement. What can be done is remove the head display unit and wire it (with a fuse link) to battery posts and see if it powers up. If the unit does not come on, then the head unit will need to be replaced.

In a pinch, probably. For long term, no. ther eason being that you cannot get a good enough connection on the jacketed cable to make the sounder work properly. That and the fact that there is alot of voltage running through the wire!
Best to replace it.

If you are 'testing' the unit by holding the right button and pressing power, the pmax units really don’t work with the internal test. What you are seeing in the test is what th humminbird factory computer test used to test it. That is really not intended to be used outside of the plant. If it works fine in normal mode then I would say that the unit is fine.

Hi!
If your 220 is in portable configuration (runs on 8 'AA' batteries) make sure that the batteries are 1.5 volts and not 1.2 or 1.3 volts. (1.2V times 8 batteries is only 9.6V)
Also check the battery compartment as we see leakage from some batteries which corrodes the connector plates that the batteries hook up to.
One more thing...check to see that the power cord is plugged into the unit with the notch in the plug pointing UP. The rubber plug housing on the sounder allows the cord to be plugged in backwards if it's forced a litlle bit.
