The iron will not turn on. i tryed a different

Possible that the power cord is faulty if there is no indication at the iron. use a multimeter to check the continuity from the plug to the iron heating coil element.
it is possible that the coil has opened or the thermostat is defective.

Hi, i think you are experiencing a faulty thermostat which is gradually failing to regulate the heat produced by the element in the iron beyond a certain level as you have said. Or it may also be as a result of the contact to the element at the base of the iron are broken which makes the high setting inaccessible...
Let an electrical technician check it out....

Take it back! Any attempt to fix or adjust the iron will void the warranty - 50 bucks is a lot of money.

Unless you are really good with miniature parts and can have the patience to open and repair, I suggest you buy a replacement cord/socket assembly. it should still be available, afterall it is a common problem. Just about any appliance repait place will do this for you , or yiu can order the assembly and do it yourself. Good -luck,Macgivor

The advice given here is totally incorrect. Please ignore Azraelsrl solution. Being incorrect makes it very dangerous!!!
Blue or black = Neutral red or brown = phase green or green/yellow = earth.
If in doubt, you should get a qualified electrician to replace the cord to your iron. Getting it wrong... can easily kill someone!!!
