Try reinstalling, and make sure your video drivers are up to date. Also make sure you have the latest game patch version installed.

Right click> Properties>Compatability>Run for Windows XP (SP3) or lower

have you right clicked the game icon and set compatibility to windows xp service pack 3 and put a tick in the Run as administrator
