cut the wires to the unit and connect the same color wires together. the ignition switch... find the 2 that make it spark to run and connect them

sounds like you may have a broken key on the starter gear. Remove the starter and check that the gear is solid in the shaft. When it is free spinning is indicates the solenoid id faulty.

turn the carb screw all the way in and back it out 1 1/4 turns. This should work. if you need more... do it in 1/4 turn increments.

Replace it.
