Where did you get the band?

I had to take the following steps to get it to work in Windows 7 after running the setup executable under the Comments in the Windows row from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm

1. Open up Device Manager, right click on the Triax Elite and select Update Driver Software.
2. Select "Browse my computer for driver software" in the window that pops up.
3. Click "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer."
4. Scroll all the way down the list of "common hardware types" to USB controller.
5. Choose FTDI from the list of manufacturers and choose the "USB Serial Converter"
6. Confirm that you know what you're doing and want to install this driver.
   

Windows then finds another Unknown Device which is the serial port. Repeat as above but choose Ports for the common hardware types and then FTDI and "USB Serial Port".

Afterwards, run the latest Nike Triax Elite software (that you can download from http://www.nike.com/timing/extranet/elite_software/ and it should work.

The most common reason for not being able to pick up your heart rate on the monior watch is problems with the connection of the belt sensors to your chest. There are 2 sensors on the belt which goes around your chest. These must be very wet in order to pick up your heartbeat. It's best to put a large spit on it, rather than tap water which just runs off. Keep the inside of it turned upwards until you connect it with your chest so the spit can't run off.

Also it's important to have the sensors in the right place. To find where the belt should go place your hand on the centre of your chest. Feel where the ribs end. The belt goes just above that point. If you still don't get a reading try moving the belt slightly up or down. It can take a minute or 2 for the watch to pick up the reading so allow 2 minutes before moving the belt.

Also if you have a very low heart rate, below 40 bpm, this can cause problems as the monitor thinks it's a false reading.

There's no need to sync to the computer first.

Any local Jeweler will have this band or one that will work.

I am very sorry to hear that news, just dreadful :>( I was trying to find out who actually makes this watch, but there is no data. Normally you send to the maker and they repair it. My late wife bought me a Seiko, and although I live in Canada, I send it to the UK where it was purchased and where the service centre is for servicing. you could ask Nike who was contracted to produce it? My guess is Casio, because it has the Casio look to it. One thought I have is that the battery that was put in it was the wrong type or it was inadvertently replaced with a battery out of another watch that came in for repair. I would have another battery put in it and see what happens.
