Had the same problem when my niece was playing with my watch and switched time zones and I couldn't find the paperwork to switch it back. After not finding the solution online I played around with the watch and figured it out. Just hold down the start split button till it switch zones. It will beep when the switch completes.

I can not get chrono to show

well, you did was good.. but when it happen again all you have to do is to push all button at the same time to reset it.. so that you dont have to take off your battery again..
