Hello, Suzanne -
Most ice makers in refrigerator / freezers have a heavy metal wire "arm" which activates and deactivates the ice making process. When the "arm" is in the down position, ice is made.
With most refrigerator / freezer ice makers, the "arm" can be set in the up position, so that the ice making process is stopped.

Best wishes.
There are three variations of your model# ending in eb,eq and ew with slight variations of each model.Typically on these the thermostatically controlled damper will go bad and unfortunately these were produced before whirlpool acquired them in 2006. Since then, most parts have been discontinued.
An easy check is to put your hand under the vent and slide the lever from coldest to warmest.. If it is working then you will feel a very significant change in the amount of air coming out. The thermostat itself controls the freezer temp and is balanced by the damper so if that was bad then your freezer temp would be either way too cold or too warm.
Sounds this fridge/freezer has a refrigerant leak. Eventually the freezer will also stop freezing. Need to find and fix leak and refill with refrigerant.
There is nothing on the bottom of that machine that can be damaged by a dolly. You should be aware of cosmetic damage to unit if there is a kick panel and you are dollying from the front.
Sounds like it may be low on freon. Service shd not be too high for that. But there is a tiny leak which can get worse.A tech shd tell u that. If you need further help, reach me via phone at https://www.6ya.com/expert/gary_9c859f4aa7e5ab10
Most of the time there is a tech sheet attached to the refrigerator for the maytags. It is usually found by removing the kick plate and is usually taped in a plastic bag to protect it from dirt and debris.
I was able to find a wiring diagram for this model but no tech sheet so there may not be one or maybe I just couldn't find it.
