Well i just fixed my Dyson Ball with the same problem you have. My wife and i found out it was a crumpled receipt in the lower section of the hose at the upright/handheld pivot #3 in diagram and it was catching cat hair and other things. I began by removing the canister and turned on the vacuum to see if the direct access to the fan had suction. Then i moved to #5; i reattached the canister and threw in some cat hair into it from the bottom. i turned on the vaccum to see if it spinned around; it didnt. I then moved to #4, i removed the head and then turned on the vaccum to see if maybe the head had a leak at the top connecter; as i predicted the strength was minimal. I then worked my way to #1 to see if the strength was the same or if there was a difference. no difference for us. Well then it must be #3.. of course the last one i checked. I used a small flashlight and peared in and i didnt see anything... i then used a coathanger very softly as to not puncture the hose. i then noticed some hair being pushed out but the main culprit wasnt showing. my wife gave me needle nose pliers and i pried the hose off of the top connection in #3; so i could get a better look; you may be able to push it off with your hands. and viola! a crumpled reciept for 3 Monster energy drinks.... the same ones....i drink... oops!... hopes this helps. just go through it step by step. youll know its working once stuff begins to spin in the canister. almost regretted throwing that dyson registry junk away.

- Look for the reset button on the side of the brushbar housing - there should be a red sticker and a red button. Push it once. It's
not gonna stay depressed, it's gonna pop right out - that's normal.
- Step on the red pedal on the back
- Turn the machine on with the red power button
- Press the gray button next to the red power button - this is the ON/OFF switch for the brushbar - if it doesn't spin, press and hold the gray button down for 10 seconds
- If it still isn't spinning, remove the brushbar and make sure nothing is blocking it and withholding it from spinning
- For further troubleshooting assistance call the Dyson helpline, they know what they're doing

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

With the machine switched off, press the re-set switch on the side of the head, making sure you push the button in as far as you can. When you switch the machine back on and lower it into the vacuuming position, the brush bar should start turning.

If this doesn't rsolve the problem, please contact our Helpline on 0800 298 0298, between the hours of 7am - 10pm, 7 days a week.

Kind regards

If you've had the brush out to clean it you need to re-set the trip switch which is a red button at the right side of the brush simply press it in till it clicks.

how to stretch the dyson ball vacuum hose

the hose will not stay stretched out when i am using it. it is very annoying and takes a lot of strength to keep to stretched out

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your Dyson. Due to the machine's very powerful suction, it's normal to experience a certain amount of resistance from the hose in use. However, you may find that stretching out the hose to it's fullest extent with the machine switched off, while someone else holds the machine in place, helps loosen it up a little.

If you've tried this and are still concerned, please get in touch with us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

my dyson DC24 has very poor suction - all filters clean and hoses seem to be clear. had it for just over a year

the sweeper has very poor suction and leaves a lot of fur/debris, ect. behind no matter how many times i go over it. it is picking up some. both filters are clean and the hoses all seem to be clear, the roller is working fine and is clear of hairs, strings or any hindrance. have had the sweeper about a 15-16 months - also we empty our the cylinder when it is 3/4 full every time or less.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear your DC24 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be. From your description of the issue, it sounds as if there may be a blockage in the machine - to locate and remove this, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

You may also want to take a look at the video below to make sure you've washed the filters as we recommend. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for them to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing them. In normal use, this should be done at least once a month.

I hope this helps - if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Question

My dyson DC24 makes a loud noise when turned on. The air flow seems to be going out another another end on the vaccum kind of by the on switch.

You can put a little piece of paper there and the suction will hold on to it when the vacuum is on. It's a little opening kind of to the right on top of the canister that holds the debry. If you were turning it on its on the rt of the machine. There is no suction from the vacuum or the hose.

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC24. If the relief valve is activating, you may have a blockage somewhere in the machine, and the filters may also need a wash.

To locate and remove any blockages, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide:

http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc24/dc24-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-suction

In normal use, the filters need to be washed at least once a month, as shown in the video below. We'd recommend using cold water without detergent, and allowing at least 24 hours for the filters to dry completely before replacing them in the machine. It may help to leave the filters somewhere warm, such as beside a radiator, or in an airing cupboard.

This should resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further assistance or advice, please give our customer Helpline a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The reset button will not remain depressed after it's been pushed. Instead, you should hear and feel a click when pressed - it can help to use something like the eraser-end of a pencil. The steps are shown in our video guide below:

If you've been unable to reset the cleaner head after pressing the reset button as shown, or if you're worried the reset button isn't working correctly, please get in touch as we should be able to help you further.

You can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline directly by calling us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). Please have your DC24 to hand when you call so we can take you through some troubleshooting checks.
