Turn everything off but the receiver. If it stays on turn another one on and see if it pops off if not continue. Most receivers have a pause start to prevent power surge. If it continues remove the protector and try the unit alone.

You can't just plug in optical cables. Both the TV and amp have to be adjusted to allow the different type of signals to pass. I have an Onkyo receiver myself and you have to set the sound type up for each input. It's a bit tricky to do without a manual, but you can probably download one for free if you have lost yours.

I have the same problem. I saw on another forum that you can plug the sub cable into the "tape out" and it works. It did work for me but now the volume control doesn't control the sub along with the other 5 speakers. Not sure what else to do...

I have researched on your issue and found that the Receiver is not capable of processing audio from HDMI input. It will bypass the signals from its HDMI input to HDMI output..
The Receiver has 3 HDMI input and one output. Hence you can use this as a HDMI switch to connect three HDMI devices to single HDMI port on the TV.
In order to get the sound from speakers connected to the Receiver, it is required to make alternate digital or analog audio connection.
You can confirm the information from the manual of the Home Theater System. Please refer page # 36 of the Manual to get the information. I have provided a link where you can download the Manual for the HT System:

The set up procedure is not yet complete yet that's why it's still displaying Unplug Setup Mic.

Start up the setup process again by using the manual. I think that will solve the problem.

There seems to be a lot of this type of lack of signal (video, audio or both) with this system. I have the same system and the same problem. Mine is working now. I'm using all HDMI connections. I think the other important thing to do is "delete" all Input Assignments that are not being used. By "delete" I mean set the Input Assignments to "----". Let me know if this helps.

My HT-S6100 had a similar problem with my DVD player and some times with my Cable/DVR box. The signal wasn't getting received at the TV. So, first I changed the input jacks my DVD and Cable box are plugged into on the receiver (e.g. from HDMI 1 & HDMI 3 to HDMI 2 & HDMI 4). Second, I reprogrammed the Input Assignments to match (e.g. HDMI in 2&4). Third, I deleted any Input Assignments that weren't applicable. For instance, I'm only using HDMI connections, but there were Digital and Component Input Assignments programmed in. When I say I deleted them, I actually set them to "----" (just scroll through the options and you'll find this.) Finally, I turn on my video/audio sources (PS3 in your case) and let them load/warm up before I turn on my Onkyo receiver. It seems to be working. Good luck.

You need to assign the HDMI input(s) to the functions they represent, using the Front Panel Tuning/Preset control...

If you connect a video component to an HDMI input, you must assign that HDMI Input to an input selector in Setup.
For example, you could assign the “DVD” setting to “IN1”, and assign the
“CBL/SAT” setting to “IN2”.

Likewise if you use digital audio inputs...

Assigning the Digital Input
If there’s no sound, press the [DIGITAL INPUT] button repeatedly until sound is heard. The digital input is now properly assigned.
If you connect your DVD player to the AV receiver’s COAXIAL 1 DIGITAL IN, and your cable/satellite receiver
to the COAXIAL 2 DIGITAL IN, as shown, it’s not necessary
to assign the digital input.

Volume is up to high to begin with or there could be some power source close to the unit that is causing it. Turn down or turn off volume and try to do it. Thsi isn't a broken system it does happen to some units, mine included butr when I do the things I have listed it is much better. It is worse with my better sound systems.

First thing you may want to check is a.c power coming to the unit then at the back of the unit you should have a 3 positions switch that reads auto/off/on , put it at the on position, now you should have a green indicator L.E.D meaning power`s o.k.
If you still have nothing then look for a fuse holder with a slotted opening, get a flat screwdriver and turn the cap about a quarter of a turn counterclockwise and it should pop out.
Look at the fuse and you might see a broken filament inside or blackened glass, if it is the case you might try to replace it with a new one(fuses sometimes blow due to power surge or spike) but if it blows again, then you have a problem with either the power supply or amplifier board. If the fuse is o.k and all is connected right by the user manual then you are back with a power supply problem.
