Alesis SR-16 distorted sounds
The distorted and low volume output plus noise is usually caused by using the wrong power supply adapter. The Alesis SR-16 takes a 9V "A/C" supply not "DC". The A/C supply provides a negative voltage swing which wouldn't exist with a DC supply. So check and make sure you have 9V A/C output supply not DC.
Service manual
Open the box and try to spray a cleaning/lubricating solution inside the volume pot mechanism like Deoxit D5, you can also spray a little of it on the output connectors where you plugin your cable that runs to the amp. If that doesn't solve your problem you have to replace the volume potentiometer. The machine I have had similar issues and I was lucky to have a pot close in size and resistance value as the original which in my case was broken, so I just replaced it. Good luck!
Alessi SR16 tempo slows down in stages throughout the song
I would start with double checking the "Clock in" and "Clock out settings. Also check that the Master sequencer is sending the correct Clock information. If you have not already done so, you can try by reinitializing the system (hold down erase-delete and record while powering up). If all that fails to remedy the problem you may have to check the SRam, some models have the high power ones fitted that drains the backup battery very quick. Change to the 58256-LP. Last but certainly not least, Avoid using any noise reduction systems (Dolby,or DBX) as these can distort the timing of the pulse train that contains the data. Have Fun.
Not working@ full pwr.
Sounds like you got an incorrect power supply OR the SR16 has a failure creating too much load.
The power supply should be a 9VAC at 1 amp (1000 ma)
The power supply MAY get warm to the touch but should not get real hot.
Without the SR16 pluged onto the power supply it should barely get warm. If the SR16 doesn't work, then it probably has an internal failure... LIKELY the internal rectifier filter combination.
The drum machine goes on and off, and I think the
It sounds like the adapter jack in the Alesis has a bad solder joint to the circuit board .This is a fairly common problem with all modules that have external power supplies and is an easy fix if you feel confident and are good at soldering.
