This is really a personal choice as long as the strings are made for an electric guitar there are hundreds of different kinds, it mostly has to do with the thickness of the strings and how the thinner the string the easier it is to manulipulate, you should go to a good music store and tell them what type of music you play and they will give you some choices.

Vintage numbers from 1932 to 1970 are now supported. Serial numbers from 70' and 80's era Epiphone guitars made in Japan are not supported. The reason for this is that there is no reliable documentation from this time period. This Module has been updated to work with the newer serial number formats.

21 = some list this as the year but...1921?!? Not likely
07 = most likely the year 2007
0612 = manufacturing ranking (your axe was number 612 built that year).

If it is a coax with a wire in the center and a shield outside, the wire will attach to the contact that touches the tip of your plug you insert. The shield will attaach to the part that touches the sleeve of you plug. inspect the jack carefully as they can be foolers. When stripping the insulation back un-braid the shield a little to be able to solder it to the jack. Use a pair of needlenose and a helper to keep soldering heat from going up the braid and melting the insulation of the internal wire. Test unit before putting cover on.

Go to this site and find a guitar with the same configuration of controsl, pickups, etc as yours to see typical diagram. With CAREFUL inspection and good lighting often you can see where the wire broke from.
No sound
First check the cable. If that works fine on another instrument then i would check the input jack next. Also try turning the volume knobs. You may have a dead spot on the potentiometer.

The cable has a broken wire. If it's the type cable which allows unscrewing the jack, take it apart and look for a loose / broken connection. Repair would be to solder it back. If the jacks on the cord are the molded type, the most practical solution is to replace it.
