this problem so far caused because problem with speaker..
please try that :
- check if the problem appear if you call many people to insure that the error from your phone , not the remote one .
- use the external speaker or headset to call any body , if you cant hear too so the problem either software , or the Voice IC is damage ... but I think if the remote person hear you, that little possible problem in IC.
- if you can hear in loud speaker so be sure that the internal speaker is damaged and need to change

sounds like the battery is not well anymore, try to charge for a few minutes and open phone while it is attached to the charger, also try with another battery which is completely charged with another phone.
