have you tried resetting the unit

hold the power button for at least 5 seconds, this will force the unit to turn off.
turn it back on
unplug the power cord
wait at least 5 seconds
plu it back in

the chipset contains all the codecs which are unique to that processor, you cant do much but purchase a media player that supports the formats you require.

you bought it new ... every new prodycts should come with warranty therefore best advice take it down to where ever you bought it from

Check the progressive scan option on your DVD player. If set to off, turn it on and the problem should go away.

You probably need to be a bit clearer as to what you want. But the f (function) key on the unit allows you to change the input To ARC if you have it set up. If you switch off your TV /stereo using the TV remote only this should shut down both. When you turn it on again both should turn on with the sound routed through your stereo ( when you turn on you need to wait a short while while the stereo starts up)

I would say yes, from what the manual says, the LG HT356SD has some Unique Features: #1 Portable In : Listens to music from your portable device. (MP3, Notebook, etc) #2 USB Direct Recording : Records music from CD to your USB device. Read the manual, on page 26 it will show you how to do it, I found it at www.theatresystem-manual.com under lg, or go directly to the link I provided. http://www.theatresystem-manual.com/manuals/lg/LG_HT356SD.pdf Recording to USB 1. Connect the USB device to the unit. 2. Select a DVD/ CD function by pressing FUNCTION. One track recording - You can record to USB after playing the file you want. All tracks recording - You can record to USB after stop. Program list recording - After showing the programmed list, you can record it to USB. 3. Start the recording by pressing X REC. 4. To stop recording, press Z STOP.

You may need to use an optical cable between the tv and the stereo. (TV out/Optical in)

Just clicked on sound effect on the lg tv remote it was set to 2.1 changed to 5.1 and the system came alive!!

you cant you have to use a fiber optic cable from your xbox to the lht854 then just hook the HD cable from the Xbox to the tv i have the same surround sound and had the same problem.

Try the changing the input on your DVD to " AUX", that input will allow you to play sound from your tv through the DVD

Turn off the auto setting on the resolution. Either keep the dvd set to 480i or 1080p or whatever is the highest resolution your tv supports.

Make sure the unit isn't overheating. They have processors in them to decode the digital video. If there are any fans make sure they aren't clogged up with lint. Th unit shouldn't have and thing sitting on top of it or sitting on anything hot. If all that looks good try getting a lens cleaner one for CD players should work. Its just a disc that plays that has little brushes on it. Best of luck!

Unless your CD's are DTS-encoded, you can only SIMULATE surround or employ Digital Sound Processing from stereo sources to create virtual sound spaces and effects. The manual describes it on page 13.

Check for your cables sound like grounding problem

Is the digital TV-related sound actually originating in the unidentified TV or would it be better to get it at, say, the Cable Box, which IS a hi-fi component, whereas TV's are amost always NOT so?

I'm pretty sure the TV manual may explain the use of its optical output.

i have the same problem with an LG HT 305SU and i don't know how to solve this problem, any help please?
