Samsung HT TX500 won't play any dvd, just states that there is no dvd, or keeps attempting to load the disk (makes a loud whirring sound)

If the optical pickup(laser) cannot read the disk, it will in fact say no disk, as it doesn't see one there. For more information, or should you have more questions, please visit my website at audioserviceclinic.com. You may contact me directly through the website. Thank you.

I'm Tryin to connect a samsung blu-ray

Find the manuals and refer to them.

My personal spin on the instructions:

NO signal ever benefits from multiple connections or 'hops' and it gets expensive zig-zagging a signal all over the room. K-I-S-S is the word of the day. Run the BEST version of any signal directly from its source to the BEST electronics that will present it to you for consumption. The separation of audio and video inputs and outputs on a device is what allows and ENCOURAGES the direction of each signal to the BEST electronics that can process it. Example: your TV does not have the best speakers in the room so why send it any high-end audio?

It's not clear where you're seeing "protect" nor how you're connected to your TV so I have to make some assumptions.

The manual for the HT-BD2R wasn't available but the HT-BD2/HT-BD2S was...

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Samsung-HT-BD2-Home-Theater-Systems-manual/id/22986bh646/t/2/

Read the section of page 24 regarding HDCP and page 70 regarding Copy Protection.

If the unit is powering itself off...

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts and overloads.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced hands-on tech.

So go and buy an optical cable :)

Samsung blu-ray player won't eject, tried turning off power strip

I had a similar problem with my unit. every time i hit "eject" the screen would display "eject" for about a minute then display "loading" indefinitely. no mater how many times i powered on or off it just would not spit out my disc. However, I hit the "function" button on the player and cycled through radio, aux. etc. and that seemed to un-freeze it. I was able to eject my DVD while the player was set to radio. give it a try and hope for the best.

I have a Samsung HT BD2 region 4, I go many region

To unlock the DVD code its defends upon what region you belongs or from were you bought the DVD unit. Just click this site to hack the region code ; http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks

To keep it simple, this means that DVD players and DVDs are labeled for operation on within a specific geographical region in the world. For example, the U.S. is in region 1. This means that all DVD players sold in the U.S. are made to region 1 specifications. As a result, region 1 players can only play region 1 discs. That's right, the DVDs themselves are encoded for a specific region. On the back of each DVD package, you will a find a region number (1 thru 6).
The geographical regions are as follows:
REGION 1 -- USA, Canada
REGION 2 -- Japan, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Greenland
REGION 3 -- S.Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Parts of South East Asia
REGION 4 -- Australia, New Zealand, Latin America (including Mexico)
REGION 5 -- Eastern Europe, Russia, India, Africa
REGION 6 -- China
REGION 7 -- Reserved for Unspecified Special Use
REGION 8 -- Reserved for Cruise Ships, Airlines, etc...
REGION 0 or REGION ALL -- Discs are uncoded and can be played Worldwide, however, PAL discs must be played in a PAL-compatible unit and NTSC discs must be played in an NTSC-compatible unit.

The end result is that DVDs encoded for regions other than Region 1 cannot be played on a region 1 DVD player, also, players marketed for other regions cannot play region 1-stamped DVDs

Hope it may help you;

I have bouight a samsung home theatre system that

You have several ways to do this. You can hdmi cables from the two units and plug them into your tv if it supports hdmi and run the audio out portion on the back of the tv and hook that into one of the audion inputs on the surround unit. Or you run audio directly out of the bluray using rca, digital coax, or digital optical cable. Turn the surround reciever to the corresponding input that you choose to use.

NEED TO UPGRADE MY HT-BD2 SYSTEM

There are two ways to approach this. You can either download the update from Samsung's support page, burn it onto a CD, place the CD into your Blu-Ray player and let the update load...or you can connect your Blu-Ray player to the internet and let the player download and install the update automatically.

For the first approach, the upgrade file can be downloaded by clicking on the following link:
http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149020&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=N&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200903/20090318095607437/081227_01_HT_BD2_XAA.zip

...and the instructions to installing the file on your system can be found here:

http://org.downloadcenter.samsung.com/downloadfile/ContentsFile.aspx?CDSite=us&CttFileID=2149021&CDCttType=FM&ModelType=C&ModelName=HT-BD2&VPath=FM/200901/20090109105847140/HT-BD2_System_Upgrade_by_CD_Method.pdf

The second approach is detailed in the HT-BD2 User's Manual (pages 46-49). It requires you to first plug a network cable into the back of your Blu-Ray home theater unit, then connect the other end into a LAN connection on your wall (or into the back of your cable/DSL modem) Page 26 of the user's manual shows you how to make the connection.

All manufacturers have had several updates moving on with disc technology. If you can't burn this to a disc as data, then email samsung and they will send you an update disc. Next, if you don't have one, get a Laser Lense Cleaner. Preferably one that uses liquid, and run that thru a couple times. Clean your players often! it's a good habit to get in to. Hope this helps

Blu-Ray disc does not play.

You need a software upgrade. If your blu-ray is lan connected you can upgrade from the blu-ray, just follow the menu. If you have no internet connection, use your PC. On the manufacturers web site find your model and download a firmware update to cd, then play this in your blu-ray, follow the on screen menu. Good luck

Hi!
I had the same problem, and I solved it by shutting down the unit and then disconnected the power supply for some sec. When re-connecting the power supply and pushing the start button the DVD was ejected when pushed the eject button.

Region codes

this will make it a region free dvd player but as yet there are no hacks to make region free blu-ray. i will post back if i hear of any.

• Eject Disc – Display No Disc on screen

• Press Repeat & Hold 3 Seconds (On my remote this only worked using the second button from bottom right hand corner of remote)

• Press 76884
+ After entering those 5 digits, you should apparently see a number in the top left corner of the screen corresponding to the current region

• Press 4 to 9 for "auto-region" mode ie. Region Free

• Turn Off Machine
