Your unit should have 2 plugs in the back...one for the audio and power wires to connect to your factory connections and the other plug is just RCA connections for your video, subs and front speakers. If you have a 4 channel amp and a amp for your subs, you will have to split the 4 channel amp down to 2 and run them to your front RCA connections. Subs will connect to the sub connections. If yours are not listed then you may have to track down a wiring diagram. Hope this helps.
Kenwood kvt-512 mecca error
Blue wire is your amplifier remote or power antena, if you ground it and turn the radio on you burn somethin hopefully j6st a fuse.. You did check the fuses, when in doubt the chassis of the radio is also your ground.
I plug my ipod to the stereo but my stereo screen
you have to go to the kenwood site and download the firmware update go to this page http://www.kenwood.com/cs/ce/mm/firmware/2008/eng.html
after you download the file unzip it and burn it with either nero or roxio, as a data file insert the cd on your kvt-512, if it reads DISK ERROR, press the reset button on the front of the stereo, once the screen comes back up select the DVD function, the system update should start from there. let it finish once it does then you'll be able to plug in your ipod. oh and ofcourse for this you should know that you need the ipod adapter, depending on what you want to do with it for instance i have the KCA-iP300V which allows me to view videos from my ipod as well.
Installing aftermarket radio, there are two power lead that have constant voltage, neither of the lead have power
More than likely, you shorted out a wire and blew a fuse. I have worked on cars for 19 years now and have several years under my belt as an electrician - and these things happen. Do yourself a huge favor from now on, spend the extra 25 bucks at best buy for the factory wiring harness adapter. It'll save a lot of headaches for you later on when you change the stereo back to sell the car, or install something else. I learned this the hard way myself. It is well worth doing things right the first time!
Not opening no power was
if you dont have power, one of your wires came loose, either pos or neg.

Radio doesnt want to come
Are you absolutely 100% positive that the antenna is properly seated in the connection?
If yes,
Try changing the station settings. Some have "local" and "distant" that may/may not make it come in clearer.
Refer to your manual for radio settings and play with them a bit.
Dvd not play
A lot of the video screen units are on a lock down mode unless the parking brake is set on your car as a safety feature to make sure you are not watching while driving, there are ways to bi-pass this safety feature but do know it is illegal in some states. Trying YouTube for a way to bi-pass your safety feature sometimes its a lot easier than you would think.
Don't know code for radio
Radio code is specific for each and every car.
It is specific like anti theft code.
You can get it by providing your VIN# and registration details in
authorized dealership. Nobody else can provide you. If anybody can
provide you that , then there is no meaning of security for your car.
Security problem pas.
First of all, here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:
http://manual.kenwood.com/files/B64-4021-00.pdf
To view the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.
You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents. You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary. Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, and then just follow the onscreen instructions to install it.
See page 70 of the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for detailed instructions on how to set up the security and parental lock code features of your unit. If the device is asking for an unlock code, try entering KCAR with the remote.
Please comment back here to this page if you have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.
Thank you very much and good luck.
Joe.
