You will need to visit an Authorized Dealer or service center for that product to get the unlock code reset. You can find a dealer listing on their website, or call them.

My system is blocked on secuirity code enter when

Many Kenwood radios are configured with the same security codes:

  • KCAR - This seems to be a "backdoor" to some Kenwood models.
  • 3051 - This is the security code which is printed in the manual of many Kenwood models.
  • 1234 - This is a security code commonly chosen by Kenwood owners.
A Security Code Bug in Some Kenwoods

There is a reported bug in the security code handling of some Kenwood stereos. In models with thie bug, the security code is stored incorrectly. The workaround is to enter the wrong security code.

In models with this bug, you have to decrement the third character of the security code by one. If your security code was 1111, you would enter your security code as 1101. If your security code was 9999, you would enter 9989.
Finding the Kenwood Security Code

There are backdoor codes for each Kenwood car stereo, based upon the model and the serial numbers.

These backdoor codes are closely held secrets. Outfits like Car Audio Accessories UK will sell you the code for your radio for £20.
Sending your RadioBack to Kenwood

If all else fails, you can send your stereo back to Kenwood to have the security code reset.

Display on kdc-mp638u not working

These units are pretty cut, and dry.. Basicly the only thing you can check for yourself is connection. If the connection between the face plate, and the deck is good, and tight then you have one of 2 problems.
1) Bad face plate. Fix= $90-$130

2) Bad connection to the board on the radio Fix $60-$120

There is however a VERY off chance the processor is jumbled up, and wont cost you a dime to do a cold reset, so give it a shot.

To reset this unit simply remove the face plate, and locate the rest button. It is very small, but easy to find. Just use an ink pen or something of similar size to push the button.

My kenwood will not save any tuner stations or eq

check your "constant power" (battery power) lead with a meter and make sure it's got 12v dc power with the key "out" of the ignition. If there's no power check the vehicles fuse and the radio fuse. Hope this helps
