Look at ur tv remote,find the button said CC on the remote,push it to close CC1,2,3 to off.The captioning,will stop.

The humming is caused by the power source, a part (most likely a capacitor) has failed and acts as a short overstressing the source. If your electronics skills aren't good enough for you to open the tv, locate the failing capacitor and replace it, then call a repair guy ASAP, longer you wait bigger the damage becomes.

That is most likely a power supply problem. Check/replace the fuse as needed and try replacing the diodes that form a full bridge rectifier.

Look for 'FORMAT', 'ASPECT'. 'ZOOM', 'WIDE' button on your remote to change the ASPECT or PICTURE MODE.

If the LCD screen itself has broken then it will actually cost more to repair the tv than it will to replace it entirely with a new model. Sorry.

If your TV makes ANY noise at all while trying to power up(turn on) then your A/C FUSE IS GOOD.
Relay makes a clicking niose when TV is turned on.
Any led that lights up while trying to power up set>>A/C fuse will be good!!!

Universal remote controls often have an automatic code search so that you don't need to find the exact codes to program it to your device (i.e. tv, vcr, etc). Lower the resolution of the laptop in the display menu from the control panel. a 800 x 600 resolution might work...

You either have bad capacitors on your power supply or a bad fuse, i'll suggest you to check the fuse first, to check the fuse you need to open your tv and see the fuse is on the main board. try replacing the fuse.

I had the same problem, I ended up buying an RCA Universal remote, when I had no luck with the codes I tried the autoscan feature, to my surprise it worked perfectly.

the first thing to check is the power supply, and if the power supply is good the next possible damaged part is the inverter which is responsible for turning on the screen, this happens a lot. and of course if you don't have repairs skills don't mess with it. call the repairman. good luck

It's the #1 plaguing issue with flat panel TV made by funai corp. Sylvania is one of those TV made by them.
Normally, when this happens, the TV goes into " Protection Mode " because of a failing circuit board. Most likely the TV has a power supply related problem. The most common thing to go out on flat panel TVs is the circuit board that supply power to the screen. Commonly called a Backlight Inverter Board. But, I can't say it's 100% the problem because I can't actually look at the tv over the internet. I can only make guesses with the symptom.
You have a few choices:
1. You can try leaving the TV unplugged for 30 minutes so the TV can reset itself.
2. If by chance the TV is still under warranty, go that route.
3. If you have some electronic experience, if you can find and purchase a Service Manual over the internet; It will help you diagnose the source of the problem and fix it by soldering in the new part. The Service Manual will give you circuit diagrams, test points, and part# lists.Usually, cost under $20. And most cases the new part cost less than $15.
4. Pay a TV shop to do the repairs. It maybe costly, but get an estimate of how much they will charge. That way you can decide if it worth repairing or replacing the whole TV.
