The top part where scores
Hello there,
This is a common problem but it is not usually a fault with any of your equipment. It is more of a "Battle Royale" between aspect ratio and resolution settings.
If you are unable to get the picture size correct using the aspect ratio settings on the TV, it is usually because the aspect ratio or resolution of an external input is set incorrectly. Similarly it may be that the settings on the TV and the external input are not in harmony with each other. The settings need to match or you can get some very strange results in terms of picture size.
The external input might be a cable/satellite receiver or a digital tuner/converter.
If you have one of these external inputs connected, set your TV to FULL / 16:9 and then go through the various aspect ratio settings on the external input one at a time and note the results. When doing so, switch the TV to either a sports channel where you can see the scores are partly cut-off or a news channel where the ticker is disappearing off the bottom of the screen. It may not be obvious on other channels when you have selected the correct setting.
If you need further assistance, please reply to me from within this page with details of the brand and model number of any external input device you are using and the type of cable you are using to connect it to the TV. The cable can have some bearing on which settings are correct, particularly when HD is involved.
I will then be able to tell you the exact settings for your TV and any external input when they are used in conjunction with each other.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
BElectric
When you turn on the tv the green light comes on
Not so sure but looks like is seted up on HDMI input. So when you start it is trying to find and decode the signal but probably there isn't one. So try to switch it on another imput like TV or AV. Is there a death screen also, like no light no anything?
Power supply
Hello,
I hope I can help you with your issue,
Either the power supply has an issue , or you have a bad buffer board and Ysus scan board or both.red light indicating may mean power supply , 7 blinks the buffers and y board.
A repairman will usually just order the boards and you will spend about $550-$600 on the power supply or over $700 probably around $850 if its the Y board and buffers.
It could be just a few bad capacitors on the Power Supply, there could be a bad capacitor on the Y board if its bad it needs to be replaced with the buffers together
If you want to attempt the repair yourself you can do a visual of the power board caps will appear swollen on top.
The ones you are looking for are located almost center bottom of the power board,Usually I can see them clearly with the back on simply shining a light into the back through the holes
With the back removed you will see a few circuit boards the upper one (ac cord runs to it through a small board) is the power supply, it has a lot of capacitors on it (cylindrical standing straight up soldered in and marked on the sides with the positive/negative sides and uf and Volts values)
Philips uses 2200uf or 3300uf at 35Volts rating capacitors, they cost about 1dollar-2dollar each
The power board and back unscrew with a torx bit and screwdriver size 10 and 15 , if you do not know how to desolder and resolder then do not attempt this as you may damage the TV more than fix it.
We do not recommend do it yourself, but depending on your knowledge and technical ability you may be able to.
You can replace the whole power supply,
Hope this help in solving the problem.....
Won't turn on at all the green light does not
The TV has two power status functions on the same button. First power on the Tv by pressing firmly on the power button displays a ready to use functionality where the TV may not necessarity display any thing on the screen just yet. Second, using the remote control by pressing on the power should display the ready signal screen like before. However, ascertain that the power cables connecting the TV to source of curent is not been disconnected along the entire circuitary. Check on the power outltet sources on the one aspect, and the connection side of the TV. Thereafter, the TV should be ready to be powered on by pressing.
Speakers had a buzzing/vibrating noise. had them
maybe just poor speakers.....had a similar problem with an old sony. Replaced the speakers twice and always had a noticeable buzzing. Try running external speakers (computer speakers will work) at low volume to see if you hear it in those. If so, you may have sound board issue.
My aunt went to turn
It sounds like your aunt switched the TV's "input" mode. Look for a button labeled "Input" and press it. She will most likely have to press it a few times as it cycles through the various inputs till she reaches the correct one.
After 1 hour the tv goes blank no sound or

Press the hd zoom # button or format/aspect button on your cable box/satellite box remote to adjust picture size. If that doesn't work try the below troubleshooting steps.
First make sure that your television is on the right input. i.e your cable box might be connected with both a coaxial cable and a component or hdmi cable. You might be on the input for the coaxial cable by mistake. Next check the resolution of your cable box and make sure it matches what your television can display. For example you should not have your cable box set at 1080i if this is a 720p television. Next make sure it is formatted for a 16:9 television under its (the cable box's) set up menu. Try pressing the wide/view mode/aspect/format button on your television's remote to adjust picture size.
