Runs for 10 minutes and goes off the display. What

  1. Go into your “Time” menu in the TV and make sure noting is turned on to automatically turn off the TV.
  2. Make sure the TV’s power cord is installed correctly into the back of the TV and into the wall outlet.
  3. Sometimes using a different remote to channels on the cable/satellite box can cause the TV to power off. This was common with the Motorola boxes because some of their remote codes were similar to LG power off code. This issue was resolved by a firmware update on the TV.
  4. When you power the TV back on and the Channels are erased, then the problem is due to a bad main board and need to be replaced.
  5. Other than that, it could be the power supply and or the main board power off the TV. The only way to tell with a LG service remote and some TV repair tools.
I hope this information has helped you.
Good Luck.

If this doesn't solve the problem, connect standard 1/8" headphones into the remote control OR the headphones jack on the TV. Then unplug the TV for a minute. Plug it back in, turn it on, and see what happens. Hope this helps,...it may not seem relevant, but it works for some reason.
Good luck...

What is the best Calibration Settings for the LG

If you have a Blu-Ray player, you can use a number of Blu-Ray discs (Spiderman 3, Terminator 2: Skynet Edition, Monsters Inc; for example) that have "optimizers" on them to help you adjust your settings. Some DVDs do as well, though not quite as in-depth. That's a start. There are other calibration discs (specifically) that are available for purchase as well. Basically, it all boils down to personal taste. Remember that contrast is the 'white level' and brightness is 'black level'. Choose the settings that look best to YOU, as you are the one that will be viewing it. However, the discs will help you distinguish the differences between too much/too little contrast, color, brightness, sharpness; as it's not always easy to figure out on your own. They usually also tell you what to look for as you make your adjustments. Good luck!

How do i adjust the vertical hold on my lg tv

LG does not have an adjustable setting for the vertical hold. You would need an Engineering Remote to get into the software setting on the main board. Howerver, you would have to work for LG to get your hands on that remote.

Your issue my be caused by a bad main board or with a bad input signal to the TV.

LG 37" LCD TV Sound Fault

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Please check the audio with a DVD player or cable box. Also try using component cables if using a RCA component cable or vice versa. Check that all of the cables are plugged into the back of the TV & MUTE button is not pressed. Do a hard reset by unplugging the power cord for more than 4 hours and power it again, then go into the on-screen-menu and make sure the sap is off and stereo in on. Also try audio from Phone and 3.5mm jacks (if equipped). If this all didn't resolves the issue then it is an Audio IC or bad speakers/speaker connection. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Vertical lines instead of picture

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you might have a backlight and/or an inverter board issue with this TV set. It could also be due to the inverter circuits for the backlights. The inverter is the power supply source for the backlights. There could also be a screen driver problem; if it is then you have to change the entire inverter board. All this is only recommended if you have some kind of expertise for checking the internal circuitry of the TV as these units have high voltages running even when the set is switched off. The cost to change the inverter board including labor would be around $250, if you get this done by a professional. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks

TV continually switching on/off - how do I reset?

Hi:
Your problem resides in the power supply board. There are two capacitors that are near the connector the runs to the main system control board. These capacitors are leaky and need to be replaced. If you know how to solder and unsolder then componets on a board then at the most $10.00 will fix your problem. You should be able to idenify the too because they will be puffy on their tops as if they are ready to burst. The values of the caps are 1000uf rated at 10 volts, Go to Radioshack and purchase 1000uf rated at 16 Volts as this will give longer life to the unit. Also the caps are ploarized neg an pos make sure you reinstal them the same way you took them out look at the board before installing them will give you an indication of which hole is neg and pos.

TRYING TO INPUT LAPTOP TO

Reading the online manual - You should have the laptop connected by VGA - PC input
VGA Connection you need to select the correct input on the TV
  • Select the RGB-PC input source on the TV using the INPUT button on the remote control.
you will need to set the laptop up to output to the VGA output, to do this - varies by different manufacturers - But often F4 or F5, with the FN key selects the VGA output - have a look at the F keys across the top of the machine and see if you can see a picture of a screen - then use the FN and that F key together to toggle between display it will change to <Laptop Screen Only><Laptop screen and VGA output><VGA output only> not necessarily in that order.
