you are describing a power supply defect. IT may be as simple as the main fuse. I believe the one in this set is a 6.5 amp located on the ps board right by cord connection. IF after replacing the fuse opens a second time you will need to replace the power board.

You need a VGA cable (15 pin) connected from PC (monitor out) to the PC input on the HDTV (15 pin) this is for the video. For the audio, connect from PC to HDTV, audio cable, either 3.5mm from earphone out on PC to HDTV 3.5mm audio input (next to PC VGA input) and also be sure to set PC screen resolution to compatible output for HDTV like 1024 X 768 or 600 x 800 etc.
Select the PC input on the HDTV using TV remote.
Hope this helps.

Electrical short, which has fried the MOSFETS... Normally these are meant to "break" and not allow any more voltage through, in this case they have broken and fused, still carrying voltage.
This is not cost effective to repair as many parts have been effected.

Hi fssidhom,
This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section, that's why you encountered the start-up problem. The very
common caused of this fault is the leaky
electrolytic capacitor in
that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and
will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the
symptom will get worst. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better
that you have a capacitor
checker/tester to determine
its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky capacitor is
isolated.
If you don't have necessary tools
and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to
look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't
attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored
electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.
Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty,
avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open
the back panel, this will void the warranty.
Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Probably some bad capacitors in the power supply or inverter/RF circuitry for the back-lights.
look for electrolytics with the top bubbled up on them, or bulging plug at the bottom or leaking electrolyte...these caps all need to be replaced.

Are you using a cable or satellite box to provide the signal to the TV? If so there will be a setting in the box that is probably set for the closed caption. Unless you are on the TV tuner input portion of the TV it will not allow you to adjust the closed caption setting.

Hi, you can try tightening the ribbon cables that run from the screen to the buffer board , only tighten the one near the line area. if this does not help you probably need a new buffer board or panel (screen) I’m happy to help further over the phone at

You can try to get the processor to do a cold start. To do this, unplug the power from the set - turning it off is not enough, you must unplug it!
After 15 minutes, plug the set back in and try to power up. If it works OK, you are good2go!
If that did not work, your set probably has a power supply problem. The best option if it is under warranty is to exchange it.
If your warranty has expired, find a good TV repair shop and ask for an estimate before going any further.
Good Luck!
