Colored vertical line on half

Hello,

All plasma an LCD TV have boards that control vertical and horizontal output to their respective areas. They are connected to the screen by ribbon cables. If one of these boards fails all together, has a failed chip, a bad connection, or a bad ground somewhere it will result in a black line in the area of that board. A bad ribbon cable connection on the bottom will result in a vertical black bar though the screen. Many times resetting the connection will fix it, if the ribbon cable has been nicked there could be a severed connection. They an sometimes be fixed, but it is a pain. An yes I have done it, but the bar is gone. The same will happen if the chip that outputs to that area opens. The connectors are the first place to look paying close attention to the cable, they are extremely delicate so great care must be taken if you decide to tinker with em, the usually have lift locks that release them, but it is very easy to wreck em.

Good luck.

You may have lost the 24vdc or bad inverter board but you need to do some voltages checking first.

Half screen showing picture other half showing color lines

This is a catastrophic and known failure of older Toshiba sets, not much you can do, try to take out a retrospective extended warranty, wait a month and claim, good luck.

Tv screen went black

This is the best solution for your problem as a 40 year experience with wires etc. Go to the source of your cable signal connector . Open it and clean the terminals with emery paper , sand the end of the cable shiny clean from corrosion , get a new barrel connectors with gold terminals if possible lengthen the ends of the cable , insert and tighten good, use thick rg-16 or rg 40 cable with good insulation ends crimped professionally with a crimpier or buy ready made , not from dollar store. Get a gold plated professional splitter if you need one or two , it will cost about 15 or more each . Make the cable runs as short as possible, using the thick good cables. If needed get a signal magnifier. From radio shack or the source etc. Connect them good and tight . Ground the splitters . Problem solved , you will get crystal clear channel 2 to 7 including 3 and 4 . Isolate the TV cable from other cables and power wires. Vitally

I have thin coloured verticle lines on the left of screen

Sounds like you have a Tcon fault.Only if you are competent to carry out this procedure then follow the task below. If not, always get a qualified Tv engineer to repair the TV.
Remove the back cover from the tv. Located top centre on the LCD is the Tcon board which is encapsulated by a metal plate. There is a lead attached to the Tcon which is held on my 2 lugs either end.Gently squeeze the lugs inwards and remove the plug. Next clean the contacts gently with a fibre pen..or a pencil rubber. Insert the lead back in the Tcon gently as the plug is delicate. Try the TV and see if the lines have disappeared. If not, check the connection at the main board and try again. If this doesnt cure the fault, then you will need a new Tcon board.

Full tv screen is not being diplayed horzontally.

First thing to check is the picture size. You can view many program formats in a variety of picture sizes
  1. Natural
  2. TheaterWide 1
  3. TheaterWide 2
  4. TheaterWide 3
  5. Full
  6. 4:3 HD
  7. Native
  8. Dot by Dot.
The format of the image will vary depending on the format of the signal you are currently watching from you cable or satellite provider. Select the picture size that displays the current program the way that looks best to you.

To select the picture size using the remote control:
  1. Press I on the remote control.
  2. While the Picture Size screen is open, you can do one of the following to select your desired picture size:
• Repeatedly press I.
• Press the corresponding Number button (0–6) while the Picture Size screen is open.
• Press B or b while the Picture Size screen is open.

To select the picture size using the menus:
  1. Select Picture Size in the Theater Settings menu.
  2. Press C or c to select the desired picture size setting.
  3. Highlight Done and press T.
Some of the picture sizes may not be available depending on the receiving signal format from your cable or satellite provider (those will be “grayed out” in the Picture Size screen).

Second thing to check is the Native Mode which restores the size of the picture by the 3-5% that is generally lost during the normal over scanning that occurs on traditional sets. It also avoids unnecessary scaling of 1920 x 1080 HD signals. I hope this helps and good luck!

Can I use wireless headphones with the 42HL67US

Good wireless headphones have "line in" cable with 2 RCA plugs, which must be attached to TV's "audio out connectors. If you have only "optical" or "coaxial" audio stream out, you must upgrade your "wireless" gear to accommodate those signals. Forget about "headphone" jack! It's a blast of the past! Thanks,Alex.
